"If you want to lecture me, then get the hell out! I don't want to hear your useless chatter!"
"You think I want to waste my breath on you?" Quennel stood up, glaring at him through clenched teeth. "What if those people actually have information about Cheryl, and now they won't give it up because you ruined everything? How are we supposed to find her then?"
"They definitely don't have anything!"
"And how do you know that? Do you have proof? If you do, show it to me!"
"I..."
Lionel stammered, unable to utter a single word, and could only glare back at him, gritting his teeth.
"Let's face it, you don't have any evidence. You're just being arrogant, assuming they don't! Let me tell you, if they did have something, and now they refuse to share it because of you, I'd like to see how you'll explain that to Hannah!"
With that, Quennel stormed out of the room in a fury.
Lionel sat there alone, a belated sense of dread washing over him.
If what Quennel said was true, then he had truly messed up.
But... how could anyone know if it was real or not!
Lionel wanted to say more, but Quennel was already gone.
-
After leaving the hospital room, Quennel didn't immediately take action. Instead, he sat in his car and opened a message he had received earlier.
His contact had sent him several more video clips.
The footage showed Hannah visiting Lionel earlier that day.
And Lionel, acting on his own, went there himself, ruining the entire plan.
But it didn't matter. This worked too.
He could now claim he "accidentally" learned about these people from Lionel, and then get rid of them for Hannah. The credit would still be his in the end.
Lionel, it's too late for you to do anything now. Hannah will never trust you again!
Quennel picked up his phone and made a call.
"Send another letter to Hannah. The meeting is in two days, same place. After you send it, get out of the country."
"Yes, sir!"
Following Quennel's instructions, his contact arranged for another letter to be delivered to the Temple family estate.
