My Fake Boyfriend Is the School Bad Boy novel Chapter 229

Chapter 229

Chapter 142

Liliana

The house was empty save for the guards, maids, and Coco.

Coco barely ever spoke to me, so it might as well be empty.

Even the witch, Cassandra, was nowhere to be found.

I still strongly believed she was strongly connected to my kidnapping, but she has refused to acknowledge it.

Gerald had left a note on my bed, saying he’ll be back and that he loves me.

It warmed my heart.

Last night, he’d stayed in my room throughout, and we’d had sex over and over again till we were both spent.

“Where’s everyone, Tabby?”

I asked as Tabitha entered the kitchen.

“Not quite sure, mistress. Do you need something?” She asked, and I shook my head.

“Well, do you think you can make me freshly pressed juice?”

“Sure,” she said enthusiastically.

“Thank you. You’re the best.”

“By the way, where were you?” I asked her.

I had been awake for hours now and was only seeing her just now.

“Oh, I was going to clean up the attic, but the Alpha forgot to give me the keys.”

“There’s an attic here?”

“Yeah, it’s close to the Alpha’s study. He wanted me to search and help him find a tape.”

The secret door.

Chapter 229

I felt a strong urge to see that place myself.

“I’ll be back.” I murmured before walking towards Gerald’s study.

It was locked.

I sighed and went back, wondering why I had come here in the first place.

Then I saw the door.

I wasn’t even sure where it led to, but for some reason I had been drawn to it the last time I was here.

I marched towards and tried to open the door.

It was locked.

I frowned and turned around and walked away, wondering where I could find a key.

Maybe I should check Gerald’s room. He may have a spare key or something.

I made my way up the stairs. His room wasn’t locked this time.

The first thing I saw was Cassandra’s robe on the bed.

The sight made my blood boil.

She was trying desperately to mark a territory that wasn’t even hers.

Gerald was my fucking mate!

Relax, Liliana; there’s no reason to be unnecessarily upset.

I walked in deeper, my eyes scanning the room.

I made my way to the dresser and opened it.

There was nothing.

I proceeded to open every other drawer till I came to the last one.

A single key sat in there.

I took it, wondering if it was for that secret door.

Chapter 229

I left the bedroom, but as I stepped out, Cassandra appeared in the hallway.

She gave me a look.

“What were you doing in my bedroom?” She asked.

“Your bedroom? That’s Gerald’s bedroom.’

“Well, we are getting married, so it’s more or less mine.”

I scoffed. “If you say so.” I walked past her.

“Your days are numbered, Lily. Soon, you’ll be out of here for good.”

I froze.

The way she had said those words rubbed me the wrong way.

I continued on. I didn’t have time to dwell on her nonsense.

I brushed right past Cassandra without looking back at her. Her words stuck in my mind anyway. They echoed there like some kind of threat I just could not shake loose.

I made it to the end of the corridor. My fingers gripped that small cold key I had grabbed from Gerald’s drawer. I stood in front of the secret door once more. I took a deep breath. Then I slid the key right into the lock.

It should have clicked open.

The key turned about halfway. Then it jammed up tight. I frowned at it. I tried twisting again. This time I pushed harder until my palm started to hurt. Nothing happened still.

“Guess this isn’t the key then.” I muttered under my breath. Then I stepped back from the door. Maybe this was the wrong door after all.

I looked over my shoulder. No one was nearby. So I headed back toward Gerald’s study. Perhaps the key would fit there instead.

I slipped the key into the study’s lock. It turned smooth as anything. The door creaked open.

That worked perfectly. I whispered to myself.

The smell hit me right away. It was that familiar mix of wood polish and old paper. I stepped inside the room. Everything seemed normal.

His desk sat there untouched. His chair too. The books lined up neatly on the shelves. Still, something inside me said this was not just about being curious. Something pulled me here to find whatever was hidden.
