Chapter 244

CHAPTER 150

LILIANA’S POV

Tony was nowhere to be found. After his defeat, he had simply disappeared, along with Damon.

My men were on guard, still searching for him.

The maid had come back and told the truth about Damon and Tony and their plans. She had heard everything.

She didn’t know anything about who killed my father, but she was able to vouch that I was innocent.

When the alpha had been killed, I was away, so there was no way I could have killed my father.

Bit by bit, the pack settled down back into their daily routine, and people gradually came to accept me as their alpha.

The best of all was Gerald came to my pack with Stefan and some others. They stayed for two weeks.

One evening, we stood together on my balcony, looking out into the starry night together. I knew he wanted to tell me something, but I

had no idea what..

“I’m going back to my pack,” he said.

I didn’t say anything; I didn’t want to. I was actually expecting this, and now that it happened, I didn’t know how to react to it.

“Liliana

“It’s okay, I understand.” I cut him off and looked at him then. He ran his hand through his hair, something he usually did when he was

frustrated or stressed.

I decided to change the topic. “I still can’t believe it’s finally over… But it’s all good. I’m only bothered that Tony and Damon are running loose out there somewhere.”

“Yeah. Don’t. Worry about it. I’ve got my guys combing everywhere for them.” Gerald said, and I nodded.

We fell into silence again, the awkward kind.

I felt rather than saw him looking at me.

“What?” I asked without looking his way.

Chapter 244

“We need to talk. About us”

I did look at him then.

“Have you made your choice yet? Remember I told you you will have to choose between one of us.”

He sighed. “I’m getting married, Liliana.”

Out of everything, I never expected that.

“Oh… ok,” I struggled to say and moved to go back into the room.

“You still got something more to say?” I asked coldly, and he let go.

I nodded curtly. “I thought not. Remind me again who is your mate.”

“You are… And I love you, but Cassandra is also as important. Her pack is an important ally, and they have helped me a lot over the

years.”

“I see you have already made up your mind. Have a nice trip back.”

“Can’t we just go on as we are?”

I shook my head sadly. “We can never go back. It’s either me or her. And I still believe she killed our baby.”

He opened his mouth to argue, but I stopped him. “Just go, get out of here… tonight don’t make this any harder for both of us.”

He stood on the spot looking at me with those sad eyes, and then he jumped over the balcony railing. A bike started, several others also following suit, and they zoomed off.

That night, I cried hard until I eventually fell asleep, still dreaming of Gerald.

GERALD’S POV

The days sped past as I and Cassandra made our wedding plans. Strangely enough, I was so occupied I didn’t think much of Liliana, just the occasional ache I had for her.

The times I thought about her were painful. It felt like I was in hell.

Finally it was my wedding day.

It was a joyous event for everyone but me. My mind kept drifting to Liliana, and I couldn’t wait for the wedding to be over.

Chapter 244

That evening while I was getting ready for my wedding night with Cassandra, I heard a knock on the door.

It was Cain.

“Sir, there is something I would like to tell you,” he said.

He went on to narrate how he had seen Cassandra meeting up with a strange man for two nights. He even told me about a tall hooded figure who came to see her when Liliana was still in the hospital.

I decided to watch her closely and also made sure to make her feel special, even kissing her and doing random nice things for her to get her to let her guard down. It was working.

During that period I missed Liliana terribly, and one day after drinking heavily, I saw myself outside Liliana’s window in her pack.

We got to talking after she got over the initial shock of seeing me.

As we talked, things quickly got out of hand, and before I knew it, I was slamming her against the wall and kissing her like my life depended on it.

She kissed me back as if she had been waiting for this all her life.

We ended up making love that night, and I waited for her to fall asleep before sneaking out the window. I retrieved my bike, which I hid somewhere, and headed home.

I went back to my pack that night.

While parking my bike, I caught sight of a shadow entering the bush beside my main building.

Curious I left the bike where it was and followed, and this time I caught Cassandra red-handed. She was indeed conversing with a strange man. I realized with a start I knew the man’s identity.

It was Damon, Tony’s best friend and Liliana’s ex-mate.

I left as quietly as I got there, my mind already working. Gradually the puzzles fitted in together, and everything fell into place.

Liliana’s kidnapping.

The miscarriage.

And others.
