My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 175

She gasped softly, instinctively gripping his shoulder, and for a second, their eyes met his gaze deep, unreadable.

He looked away first, wrapping her carefully in a towel. “Don’t move,” he said, his voice low. He started drying her hair first, rubbing gently until most of the water was gone.

Then he moved to her shoulders, her arms, her legs his touch slow, almost reverent.

When he was done, he grabbed another towel and wrapped it around her securely.

“Go out and wait for me,” he said, glancing down at his soaked clothes. “I’ll change and come out.”

Lily didn’t argue. She turned quickly and walked out, her cheeks burning.

She had brought her clean clothes into the bathroom earlier, but he hadn’t given them to her. On purpose, she thought bitterly.

He always had to control everything, didn’t he?

In her room, she opened the wardrobe again and pulled out another set of pajamas. Her left hand struggled to manage the fabric. She groaned softly, trying to slip her arm through the sleeve when she heard the bathroom door open behind her.

She froze.

David walked out, a towel wrapped low around his hips, water dripping down his chest. The faint scent of his cologne mixed with steam followed him.

Her throat went dry.

Honestly, he hadn’t meant to make it awkward but seeing her struggle again, he sighed and stepped closer. “You’re making it harder for yourself,” he said, reaching for her sleeve.

Lily tensed. “I can...” she started, but her voice faltered when his hand brushed her arm. She didn’t pull away this time.

Once she was dressed, he picked up the hair dryer from the table. “Come here,” he said quietly. “I’ll dry your hair.”

“You don’t have to,” Lily murmured, already stepping back. “It’ll dry on its own.”

David’s eyes hardened. He caught her hand before she could leave. “No,” he said simply. “You’ll catch a cold. Sit.”

He pulled her gently but firmly to the bed and made her sit down. The tone in his voice left no room for argument.

Lily opened her mouth to snap back but the look in his eyes stopped her. It wasn’t angry this time. It was warning, yes, but also… something else.

So she closed her mouth and sat still, watching him quietly as he plugged in the dryer.

The sound of warm air filled the room. His fingers moved through her hair, soft and patient. The warmth on her neck made her shiver.

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The silence was filled only by the gentle hum of the dryer and the soft beating of her heart.

And as much as she tried to ignore it, a single thought slipped into her mind When did he start looking at me like that again?

But she pushed it away.

Whatever this was care, guilt, or something else, it didn’t matter. She wasn’t going to let herself fall into the same trap again.

No matter how gentle David became now, Lily had already decided.

She wasn’t staying.

But before she could push him away, his lips pressed against her neck.

“David...!” she hissed under her breath, glaring at him.

He didn’t stop. Instead, he tilted her chin up and captured her lips in a deep, possessive kiss.

“Mhmm....!” Lily’s hands pushed against his chest, but his grip only tightened.

“Lily, are you with someone?” Jabco’s voice came faintly through the phone.

That question made David snap.

He broke the kiss, breathing heavily, eyes filled with anger and something darker.

Lily wiped her lips furiously with the back of her hand and picked the phone back up.

“Um..no, I...”

Before she could finish, David snatched the phone from her hand.

“Hey! What are you...”

“Of course, she’s busy,” David said into the phone, his voice deep and cutting. “Don’t ever call her again.”

Then he hung up and threw the phone onto the bed. It bounced and landed near the pillow.
