My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 231

After lunch, David drove them to Noah’s shop. Lily was quiet the whole ride, checking her phone and pretending she was busy, even though her mind was somewhere else. She only wanted him to drop them off and leave. Having David follow her everywhere felt dangerous. If any reporter snapped a picture, it would be all over the news by morning. She didn’t want that mess again.

When the car stopped, Lily unbuckled her seatbelt. She opened the door and stepped out. “I’ll come pick you up later. Wait for me,” David said from the driver’s seat.

“Alright,” Lily said with a small nod. She only agreed because she wanted him gone. Once he drove away, she could breathe.

Danish leaned out the window and waved. “Bye, Dad!”

David smiled and waved back, but the moment Lily turned to head inside, her wrist was grabbed. David pulled her straight into his arms.

Lily froze. Her breath caught. “David, what are you doing? We’re outside,” she snapped under her breath, glancing around. Anyone could see them.

He didn’t care. His arms tightened around her like he had every right.

“Stay here and wait for me,” he said slowly, almost like he was warning her. “If you need to go anywhere, you call me. Understand?”

His tone wasn’t soft. It was final. Like he was stating rules.

Lily kept herself calm even though she wanted to shove him away. “Alright. I’ll inform you,” she said.

But inside she thought, Not happening. Why would I report my every move to him? We’re not together. He doesn’t get that right anymore.

David let her go after a moment, brushing his fingers against her arm before stepping back.

Lily didn’t look at him again. She took Danish’s hand and walked inside Noah’s shop without a word.

David watched them disappear through the glass door before he finally got back into the car. His jaw was tight, but he started the engine and drove off.

Once he was gone, Lily let out a long sigh. The air felt lighter already.

Danish squeezed her hand. “Mum, Dad will come later, right?”

“We’ll see,” Lily said softly, guiding her son deeper into the shop, doing everything she could to push David out of her mind for at least a few hours.

“My boy.”

Noah opened her arms the moment she saw Danish. She pulled him into a tight hug like she hadn’t seen him in months.

“Auntie!” Danish laughed and hugged her back, happy and warm. He always felt safe with Noah.

Noah and Danish had a sweet bond. Her little girl and Danish often played together. They were almost like siblings.

Five years ago, after Lily left the country, Noah had followed her to New York. She got married there and later had a daughter. Now the girl was four. A few months ago Noah moved back and opened her jewelry shop. She also helped Lily with designs.

“Go. Nini is in the room,” Noah said, pointing toward the small playroom beside her office.
