My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 247

“Just take a shower and don’t come near me until you do,” she snapped. She closed the door harder than she meant to and walked out. As she closed the door, she could still hear him laughing behind the door, which only made her angrier.

She let out a long breath, trying to calm her heartbeat. “Damn you,” she muttered under her breath, then headed downstairs.

Lily walked down the stairs slowly, trying to calm her heartbeat. Her wrist still felt warm from David’s touch earlier, and it annoyed her more than it should. She rolled her shoulders back, took a breath, and forced her face to relax before she stepped off the last stair.

She stopped when she saw Olivia and Danish at the dining table. They were sitting close together, heads leaned in, whispering something and laughing. Danish had egg on the corner of his mouth, and Olivia was wiping it with a napkin while complaining that he ate too fast.

They didn’t even notice Lily standing there. That alone made her smile a little.

She walked toward them quietly and placed her hand on the back of Danish’s chair. “Good morning, Mum.”

Olivia looked up and immediately brightened. “Good morning, sweetheart.” She lifted her coffee and took a sip, her eyes warm.

Lily leaned down and kissed Danish on the cheek. “Good morning, my boy.”

“Good morning, Mum,” he answered without looking at her, more focused on stuffing the last pieces of omelette into his mouth.

Lily raised her brows. “Is it that good?” she asked and pulled a chair to sit beside him.

“Of course, Mum,” Danish said proudly. “Grandmum makes omelette better than you.”

Olivia burst into a happy laugh. “Oh, my sweet boy.”

Lily shook her head. “Your grandma cooks better than me. I also love her cooking.” She took a sip of the tea Olivia had placed in front of her without asking.

“Grandmum, I’m going to play with Rio,” Danish said as he jumped down from his chair. He wiped his mouth in a hurry and ran toward the sliding glass door.

Lily rubbed her temples and tried to stay calm. “Mum, you know why I came back. You promised you wouldn’t force me,” she said quietly. If Olivia hadn’t made that promise, Lily would never have stepped inside this house again. Olivia told her she could decide her own future and that she wouldn’t push her.

“If I hadn’t promised, you wouldn’t have come back at all,” Olivia replied softly.

Lily stayed quiet for a moment. She couldn’t argue with that.

“I’m not interfering,” Olivia continued. Her voice dropped as she let out a slow breath. “And I’m not pushing you. Whatever you decide is yours. He is your problem, not mine, so I won’t interfere. I just don’t want my grandson confused or hurt. He deserves to be with both his parents. That’s all I want. And even if you choose not to be with David ever again, I’m still with you. You don’t need to worry about that.”

Lily pressed her lips together. She stared down at her hands, her fingers twisting together. “Mum, I can’t promise anything. Right now I really don’t have any plan to get back with David. You know how it was. Just sleeping in the same bed doesn’t create love. I lived like that for five years. I know the difference now. And I’m not mistaking physical need for real feelings.”

Her voice shook a little at the end, but she didn’t take it back.

She said it plainly because she didn’t want Olivia to misunderstand. The only thing she felt toward David was a physical pull, maybe some softness because she wasn’t made of stone. But that wasn’t love. And even if she felt something deeper, she wasn’t ready to admit it.
