At the same moment, a loud horn sounded from outside.

"He’s here" April said, looking toward the door.

She turned off the stove and wiped her hands on a towel. "Can you please watch the spaghetti? I have to give him an important file"

Riyana looked at the pot. If April left it alone, it would burn. She could already imagine the smell.

“You stay,” Riyana said, standing up slowly, one hand supporting her belly. “I’ll give him the file.”

April hesitated. “Are you sure?”

“Yes,” Riyana replied, waving her hand lightly. “I’m sure.”

Both of them knew how hard it was to move quickly in this condition. Neither wanted the other to strain.

“The file is on the table,” April called after her.

“Alright,” Riyana replied as she walked into the living room.

She spotted the blue covered file immediately. She picked it up and walked toward the door.

As soon as she stepped outside the gate, Nicholas got out of the car and approached her quickly.

“Why are you bringing the file?” he asked, surprised. “Where is Nom?”

“She went out,” Riyana replied calmly. “And April was busy in the kitchen.”

She handed him the file. "Here"

“You shouldn’t stress yourself,” a voice said from inside the car.

Riyana turned her head slightly. Max. Nicholas’s friend. He is also doctor.

“Hello, Dr. Max,” she said with a small smile.

“Don’t worry. I just walked a few steps. It’s not far.”

“Still,” Max said seriously, “your delivery time is approaching. Be careful.”

“Alright,” Riyana nodded.

Nicholas handed the file to Max, who placed it on the passenger seat.

“Okay then, I’m leaving,” Max said, starting the engine.

Nicholas waved at him. Riyana gave a polite nod.

As the car drove away, Nicholas turned back to her.

“Let’s go inside,” he said, placing his hands gently on her shoulders. “It’s cold outside"

He began to guide her toward the house, but suddenly, Riyana stopped.

A strange chill ran through her body. It wasn’t from the weather. It was something deeper, something sharp.

“What happened?" Nicholas asked when she didn’t move.

Riyana didn’t answer. Slowly, her hand tightened over her belly. She turned around, her movements slow, almost reluctant.
