My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 70

Lily sat on the edge of the bed, her hands curled tightly into fists on her lap.

Her whole body felt heavy, like she was dragging chains she didn’t ask for. She hated this feeling—this power he had over her. And yet, she also knew she had no other option right now.

David stood a few feet away, watching her carefully, his arms crossed. His face was calm, but his sharp eyes missed nothing. He could read her so easily, like she was an open book, and that made her feel even smaller. She knew him well enough to understand when he was serious, and this time, he wasn’t playing games.

“Tell me everything,” David finally said, his deep voice steady, leaving no room for argument. “Start from the beginning. I want every detail about these designs.”

Lily took a slow breath and reached for her bag, which was sitting on the couch near the window. Her legs still felt weak from earlier, so she had to grab the bedframe for support as she stood. She walked slowly, each step dragging, and grabbed the bag, pulling it close to her chest like a shield. David didn’t move; he just watched her, his gaze following her every step.

She sat back down on the edge of the bed and started taking things out—her sketchbook, her laptop, her tablet. She placed them on the bed beside her, the pile growing between them like a barrier. Her hands trembled slightly as she opened the laptop and tapped a few keys, pulling up her files.

“These are Aurora's original sketches,” Lily said softly, her voice calm but strained. “Every piece in this collection is hers. She designed them one by one over the last year. She started the concept work last winter, then finalized them in the spring. This collection was supposed to launch next month.”

David stepped closer, his shadow falling over her as he leaned down to look at the screen.

Lily flipped through the files, showing him each design. “This necklace,” she pointed to one on the screen, her finger hovering over the delicate sketch.

David glanced at the design, then at her.

“ These are Aurora's, David. There’s no doubt. And whoever leaked them…” Her voice faltered, her throat tightening. “Whoever did this wants to destroy us.”

Lily said firmly, her eyes flicking to his.

David crouched down beside her, his arm brushing against her knee as he leaned closer to the screen. “And LM has already released this?”

“Yes. Last night. Our employee called this morning to tell me. They’re claiming it’s their original design.”

David’s jaw tightened. His hand reached up and gripped the edge of the bed tightly, his knuckles turning white. “Show me the proof,” he said.

Lily clicked over to the LM website, her movements sharp and angry. She scrolled quickly until the collection appeared on the screen. There they were—her designs. Her babies. Each one photographed and polished with LM’s branding slapped on top like they’d created it.

David’s face darkened as he leaned closer, his eyes scanning the screen. “These are exactly the same,” he muttered. “Not even a slight change. Whoever stole this didn’t even bother altering the details.”

“Exactly,” Lily snapped. “They didn’t even try to hide it.”

She grabbed her tablet and opened another folder, showing him more sketches, concept work, and timestamps. “See this?” She pointed to the date marked on each file.
