My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 91

It was already dark when Lily came back from work. The day had been long, and her body was aching with tiredness. She unlocked the door slowly, pushing it open with her shoulder. The apartment felt quiet, almost too quiet, and all she wanted was to kick off her shoes, shower, and collapse on her bed.

Just as she closed the door behind her, her phone buzzed in her bag. She fumbled it out while walking toward her bedroom.

The moment she saw the caller ID, her lips curved without her realizing it.

Noah.

It had been days since they last spoke properly. Noah had been out of the city, and with her schedule at work and the hospital, their conversations had been nothing more than quick greetings or short texts.

“Finally remember me?” Lily answered, her voice teasing, but there was warmth underneath.

“How can you say that?” Noah’s voice came through, soft but carrying exhaustion. “You have no idea how much I’ve been missing you. Honestly… no one here matches my vibes. I’m bored to death. I can’t wait. I’m coming back tomorrow.” Her sigh followed, heavy and tired, almost like she was collapsing on the other end of the call.

Lily sat on the edge of her bed, dropping her bag onto the blankets. She leaned back with one hand, holding the phone close to her ear. “Alright. How’s work then?” she asked gently.

“It’s fine,” she replied, but her tone suggested otherwise. There was a pause, then she suddenly asked, “Did you check social media today?”

Lily frowned, confused. “No. I didn’t get time,” she admitted. She barely ever checked social media—most of the time, she avoided it. Too much noise, too much gossip she didn’t want to deal with.

“I knew it,” Noah snapped suddenly, her voice sharper than before. “If you had seen it, you wouldn’t be this calm right now.”

Lily's stomach tightened. She sat up straighter, her eyes narrowing. “What’s wrong?” she asked slowly.

Instead of answering, Noah’s voice dropped into frustration. “Open it. Check your Instagram. You need to see it yourself.”

Lily pressed the speaker button, setting the phone beside her, and opened the app. Her fingers hesitated for a second, but then she forced herself to scroll.

The first thing that popped up on her feed hit her like a bucket of ice water.

There it was—the news of Marina’s pregnancy.

Her heart sank, her breath catching in her throat. The photo was of Marina smiling softly, her hand on her stomach. And worse, attached to it were other photos, taken at the hospital. David and Marina together.

Standing side by side. Looking like… like a family.

Her body turned cold, as if the blood inside her froze. She stared at the screen, unable to blink.

Her phone buzzed again,Noah had sent her a message. She clicked on it with trembling fingers. It was a screenshot of Marina’s post.

In the photo, Marina was dressed in a wedding gown.

The caption beneath was smug, full of meaning. And the comments, dozens, hundreds, spilled like poison. People calling her “David’s secret wife,” congratulating them, sending blessings. Some even pitying Lily without realizing it.

But in that emptiness, one image stayed carved into her thoughts, Marina in a white gown, her hand resting over her stomach.

Wedding dress. Pregnancy. Secret wife.

Her lips trembled. She bit down hard to stop them, but the taste of salt lingered on her tongue from the tears.

Her chest rose and fell with sharp, uneven breaths.

“No…” she whispered under her breath, though she didn’t even know what she was denying.

But she couldn’t unsee it. she couldn’t ignore the truth that everyone else was now believing: Marina was the one by David’s side.

Her fists clenched until her nails dug into her palms.

She had thought she was past caring about David’s choices. She had told herself over and over she wanted nothing more to do with him. But seeing it so openly displayed in front of the world, it hurt in a way she hadn’t prepared for.

And the comments… the comments praising Marina, treating her as the true wife, the rightful partner—it stung even worse.

Her phone buzzed again from across the bed. She didn’t even look. She couldn’t.

Instead, she leaned back slowly, her body heavy, her mind caught between anger and numbness.
