My Husband’s Second Personality Loved His Sister-in-Law novel Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Nathaniel had been gone for over half an hour, yet I still couldn’t pull myself together.

For years, his other persona claimed it only existed to carry out Andrew’s wishes.

But today, hearing it in reality, the words felt like nails pinning me to the spot.

I took a deep breath, found Daniel and shoved the divorce papers into his hands.

“Whenever Nathaniel is free, have him sign this.”

Daniel’s face went pale with surprise. He waved his hands, clearly trying to refuse, but I ignored him, got into

my car, and drove home.

Before I even reached the door, Sophia’s sharp voice cut through the air:

“Just take what’s necessary.”

“Throw the rest away-it’s all trash anyway.”

I rushed inside and froze.

The house was in chaos. My most treasured items, the wedding gifts from my parents, and even family

heirlooms-the bracelet I’d won at the Harborview auction-had been smashed.

I dropped to my knees, hands trembling, scooping up the fragments.

“Are you insane?!” I shouted. “Who gave you permission to touch my things?!”

Sophia’s coat hung open slightly, revealing the swell of her pregnancy.

“You already know I’m pregnant, right?” she said, a teasing edge in her eyes. “Nathaniel specifically asked you to come to the Reed Estate and take care of me.”

“To speed things up, I’m helping you pack myself.”

“Ungrateful and rude! You think you can boss me around like this?”

A wave of nausea surged in my stomach.

Smack-

The next second, five fingers were imprinted across her face.

She cupped her cheek, eyes wide with disbelief.

Smack-

At some point, Nathaniel appeared in the doorway. He raised his hand and struck me, the edge of his

wedding ring scraping my cheek.

“Sophia is pregnant!” he shouted. “How dare you hit her?!”

I laughed bitterly, glancing at his ring.

“Which personality is this now, Nathaniel?”

For once, he froze, opening his mouth but no sound came out.

Sophia began to cry, burying her face in his chest.

“I only dropped a few things,” she sobbed. “Did it have to turn into hitting someone?!”

“I was just trying to help, and they treat me like a villain!” Nathaniel’s voice trembled with anger.

“Evelyn, what are you trying to do? Divorce and violence, tearing this house apart-does that make you happy?”

“Fine,” he said, pulling the divorce papers from his bag. With one motion, he signed his name.

“I’ll make it easier for you.”

Then he turned and left with Sophia, certain I wouldn’t dare sign, certain I couldn’t make a ripple.

After all, over the past years, I had thrown myself into saving him-tracking down rare specialists, chasing

miracle cures, sacrificing without limit. Those sacrifices convinced him I could never let go.

He glanced at Sophia’s growing belly. About eight months to go until she gives birth.

Then he could claim his “miraculous recovery” and resume life as it had been.

A faint smile tugged at his lips at the thought. What he didn’t know was that the moment they left, I didn’t

hesitate.

I took the divorce papers, signed my name, and that night boarded a plane to Ashton, California.
