My Husband’s Second Personality Loved His Sister-in-Law novel Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Rushing back to the office, Sophia barreled into Nathaniel’s arms, ignoring everyone else. She waved the legal letter like a weapon.

“Evelyn is out of control!” she cried.

“She came from a small town-how dare she demand this much?”

“Has she lost her mind?!”

Nathaniel steadied her in a chair.

“Sophia, calm down. Let me see it first.”

The letter was dozens of pages long. Nathaniel’s brow furrowed deeper with every line.

He had no idea Evelyn’s jewelry could be valued so high.

Several pieces were purchased at high-end auctions at Harborview Auction House in Manhattan.

“What should we do, Nathaniel?” Sophia’s tears brimmed. “Isn’t she committing fraud?”

“Just a few bracelets,” Nathaniel muttered, trying to rationalize. “They look no different than what you could

find at a street market. How dare she ask for so much?”

Looking at the auction stamps, a chill ran through him. These weren’t forgeries.

Daniel stepped closer, whispering urgently in his ear: with all the partners pulling out, the project’s available funds weren’t even enough to cover next month’s payroll. Nathaniel almost collapsed. Everything today was pushing him to the edge-divorce, lost investments, lawsuits.

He forced himself to calm down and focus on the most urgent problem first.

Nathaniel collected addresses for every withdrawing company and used the last of his funds to silence the

media.

He went at it like he had in the early days of starting his business-company to company, hoping to win them back. He thought it would be easy-Reed Group’s reputation was strong. But by nightfall, he hadn’t persuaded

a single partner.

When he remembered the cold, mocking glances from executives earlier, exhaustion nearly made him collapse on the sidewalk.

Then, his mother called. Noise and crying filled the line.

“Nathaniel, come back!” Margaret cried. “People are trying to take our house! You have to see this!”

Take the house?

Instinctively, Nathaniel opened the divorce papers. Seeing the clause about him leaving empty-handed, he

was dumbstruck.

“Mom, don’t worry,” he said, calming her. “Get them out first. I’ll send help.”

Under the dim streetlights, Nathaniel ran his hands through his hair.

Finally, he received the only piece of good news all day.

Daniel sent an excited message. A company was willing to fund them through the crisis, offering not just a

generous price but global resources.

Nathaniel’s spirits lifted.

“Daniel, make sure they stay in the conference room,” he instructed. “I’ll be there immediately.”

All the way there, Nathaniel couldn’t help but feel a quiet thrill.

So there really was light at the end of the tunnel.

No matter how many schemes had been set against him, the Reed Group could still weather this storm. But

when he reached the conference room, he froze.

Evelyn sat in the head seat, chin lifted, looking straight at him.

“Mr. Reed,” she said coolly, “long time no see.”
