My Reborn Apocalypse Begins with a Divorce novel Chapter 111

Ray wasn’t concerned about Honey, Lola, or anyone else out of kindness. The truth was simple: if he couldn’t guarantee their safety, how were they supposed to come over and let him have his fun?

There was no way he was going out himselffirst, it was freezing; second, it wasn’t safe.

Even if he was unbeatable headon, what if someone ambushed him from behind?

Better safe than sorry. When it came to security, no amount of caution was excessive.

The world now lacked law and morality. So he had to protect himself.

True to form, the clash solidified Ray’s reputation for good.

He was now seen as a god of slaughter.

Since the disaster began, hadn’t dozens fallen by his hand?

If that didn’t make him a killing godor a straightup demonwhat would?

But did anyone ever stop to ask if those deaths were meaningless?

They weren’t. Not only were they justified, every single one had been a wouldbe intruder trying to force their way into Ray’s

home.

Was it wrong to defend himself? To protect what was his?

Of course not.

But that wasn’t how others saw it. All they focused on was Ray’s savagery.

And that was exactly what he wanted. He didn’t need their pity, their respect, or their affection.

Their fear?

Even better.

In another apartment, Lauren’s face was tight with bitterness.

If even someone as powerful as Bruce was no match for Ray, how could she possibly get revenge?

Sure, she controlled a large stockpile of suppliesbut could she use it to turn people against Ray now?

Who would dare?

Besides, wouldn’t it be easier for someone to just come for her instead of Ray?

Ray had become the boogeyman in the flesh.

Of course, that assumed people were still fighting with basic weapons. If someone got their hands on a gun

Heh. Then even the biggest coward might get brave enough to take a shot at Ray.

But where would they find one?

This wasn’t a country flooded with guns. Firearms weren’t just lying around.

Unless I could go outside. The police stations have to be deserted by nowanyone left would’ve frozen. Getting a gun would be

easy.

She started turning the idea over in her head.

It wasn’t completely impossible. Layer up in thick clothes, throw a raincoat on top to block the toxins, maybe even carry a table as a shielda short trip might be doable.

But there was one huge problem: the fog was too thick. Visibility was so poor you could barely make out the signs on buildings.

Going out was one thing. Finding your way back? That was another story.

And in temperatures this low, even the best protection wouldn’t last long. In the end, there were only two outcomesget pelted by hail, poisoned, and die, or simply freeze to death.

In fact, a few days earlier, people had already tried venturing out for food. Did anyone make it back?

Yesone person.

But that was only because he realized how bad it was the moment he stepped outside the complex and turned right around. Anyone who actually left the property never came back.

After turning it over, Lauren let go of the tempting thought.

No one would be reckless enough to join her.

Then, a thought occurred to her.

Could she team up with Bruce?

Anyone else in the building might bend the knee to Ray, but Bruce never would.

Because if Bruce surrendered, it would mean his death.

He and Ray were mortal enemies.

It was worth a shot.

The trouble was, Bruce was nowhere to be foundshe didn’t know yet that he was already dead.

Lauren’s eyes burned with venom. She blamed Ray for her broken family, for the deaths of her loved ones.

I will kill you,she hissed through gritted teeth.

Bruce was dead. As for Sean, he’d been violated several more times. After Ray handed out the promised rewards, he called off the bounty on Sean.

An old man like that wasn’t worth the trouble. No one was following him anymorewhat could he possibly stir up?

Ray couldn’t even be bothered to finish him off.

The next day, Ray noticed the bodies in the garage were disappearing, one or two each day.

Who was stealing the dead?

Curious, he aimed another surveillance camera directly at the area. That way, he could keep an eye on the garage, too.

He’d actually wanted Noel to install one during the renovations, but Noel insisted cameras couldn’t go in common areas. After some back and forth, the most he got was an electrical line run to the spot.

So now, Ray just had to mount the camera himself.

Done.

He put it out of his mind and went back to his workout.

Today was day 13 of the apocalypse. In two more days, it would be the date he’d died in his past life.

The closer it got, the more uneasy he felt. What if everything happening now was just a final hallucinationa last flash before death?

What if, in reality, he’d still been torn apart by Lauren’s family, and this whole world was just an illusion born of hatred and regret?

So he decided to stop thinking about it altogether and just lose himself in the moment.

Time flew.

Two days passed. It was day 15 of the apocalypse.

That day, he didn’t even call Honey and the others over. He stayed inside alone, spacing out, with only Leo by his side.

As the hours ticked by and night fell, he lay in bed wide awake, unable to sleep.

The whole night passed.

On day 16 of the apocalypse, Ray woke up. Outside the window, it was still pitchblack. He checked the time on his phone.

June 16th, 4:12 a.m.

In his past life, his life had ended on June 15th.

This meant this wasn’t some dying dream. Everything was real.

He had been reborn.

With his memories intact. With enough supplies to last forever.

Hahaha!

Ray even made a special call to Lucy.

Hello-Lucy’s voice was groggy, clearly woken by the call.

Well, it was just past four in the morning.

Ray, you’d better have a damn good reason for this, or I swear I’ll beat your ass later, she grumbled.

Ray laughed. I’m not dreaming, right?

You call me on a satellite phone in the middle of the night just to ask if you’re dreaming?Lucy snapped, her irritation peaking.

Lucy, who is it?

Another woman’s voice sounded nearbysoft, sweet, and cloying, the kind that made your heart thutter.
