Ray frowned. “It’s freezing out here. If I take off my clothes, what happens if I freeze to death?”
“Ha! Whether you freeze or not is none of our damn business,” the man who spoke earlier replied.
He was clearly the leader. Only he spoke; the others sneered, brandishing bats or kitchen knives, their meaning obvious–do as you’re told, or we’ll smash you and cut you.
Ray shook his head. See? He wasn’t someone who enjoyed killing, yet people kept forcing his hand.
He smiled faintly, slipped a hand into his pocket, and pulled out a replica gun from his otherworldly storage space.
Instantly, their pupils shrank. Panic flashed across their faces as they unconsciously stepped back.
A gun. Who wouldn’t be afraid of that?
Ray said calmly, “Now, all of you run out onto the road. Whoever’s last, I’ll shoot him dead.”
The group sucked in a collective breath of cold air.
“We’ll get killed by the hail!” they shouted in unison.
The hail was viciously toxic. Getting hit once meant two kinds of pain at the same time, and the poison–induced agony was unbearable–it would make a person roll on the ground screaming.
Rolling around on the ground in weather like this? That was a death sentence.
Ray snorted. “And that’s my problem how?”
Their own words, thrown right back at them.
They looked at one another, ferocity flashing in their eyes.
If that was how it was going to be, then they’d fight to the death!
The target was just one man with one gun. There were eleven of them. How many could he really kill?
“Go for it!” They roared together and charged at Ray.
After the apocalypse, many people had grown savage. When it was kill or be killed, no one held back.
Ray smiled slightly. He’d been afraid they wouldn’t charge.
This way, he could save some bullets.
He opened the portal to his otherworldly storage space,
The man in front vanished instantly. Those a step behind noticed something was wrong, but they couldn’t stop in time and slammed straight into the open portal as well.
Only one person escaped. He’d been too slow.
That man stood there trembling, terror written all over his face.
“Don’t kill me! Please, spare me!” He had no will to resist left at all.
Ray shook his head. “You know my secret. I have to silence you.
The man felt utterly wronged and burst into tears. “But I don’t know anything! I really don’t!”

All he’d seen was people disappearing. He had no idea how they disappeared. How did that mean he knew some secret?
Ray smiled. A bullet slipped silently out of the otherworldly storage space.
A blossom of blood bloomed on the man’s forehead. He stared at Ray in disbelief, then fell backward.
He hit the ground, eyes wide open in death.
Ray reached out and stored away the cars blocking the front and rear of his G–Class. Then he opened the door and got back inside. A wave of warmth instantly enveloped him.
He hadn’t shut off the engine. The heater had been running the whole time.
