Chapter 135
With a single push, Ray opened the security door. For safety’s sake, he opened the spatial portal in front of him.
One could never be too careful.
“Don’t open it!” a human voice shouted from inside.
Huh? What-?
Ray froze. He’d opened the spatial portal purely out of caution, never expecting there to be people behind the door.
“Who’s in there?” He swept his flashlight inside.
Five people stepped forward, every one of them pale with fear. Counting them, there were three women and two men. All of them wore thick military coats–no doubt the only reason they had survived such extreme cold.
Each of them was armed. Guns, all of them.
This was the armory. It wasn’t strange that they had weapons.
“You’ve doomed us!” one of the armed men snapped. “There’s a dog in this place that’s turned into a monster–about the size of a lion. It slaughtered everyone in the station. We barely escaped in here and sealed that demon dog out with this door. And you just broke it open! Now we’re all going to die!”
As he spoke, he fixed Ray with a look of deep, seething hatred. “Damn it, I’ll kill you first!”
He raised his gun to aim–only for someone to shove the barrel aside.
Luckily so. Otherwise, Ray would have fired as well.
If he attacked, it would be indiscriminate. Who knew whether the others would take the chance to shoot him too?
In that case, everyone would die.
Still, Ray made a mental note of the man. He had to die.
Anyone harboring hostility toward him had to be eliminated. Why take chances? Killing them was the safest option.
The one who knocked the gun aside was a woman. She had long hair falling over her shoulders. Her collar was pulled high, hiding her chin and even part of her mouth, yet it couldn’t conceal her beauty.
An eighty–five–point baddie, at least.
With her chin and half her lips obscured, it was hard to judge whether she deserved a higher or lower score.
“What’s the situation outside?” she asked. Without waiting for an answer, she continued, “You made it here safely and even had time to weld the door open. That means the mutated dog has already left.”
“How could it be a mutated dog?” the man who’d raised his gun earlier shouted again, agitated. “It has to be a demon—a demon dog!”
Ray smiled faintly. “I’m unarmed and pose no threat. How about everyone lowers their weapons
first?”
The group exchanged looks, then slowly put their guns away.
Ray stepped inside. With his reflexes, the moment anyone made a move to raise a weapon, he could instantly open a spatial portal–protecting himself while returning fire.
He kept close to the wall, ensuring he wouldn’t be attacked from both sides.
“My name’s Ray Morley,” he said casually. “And you are?”

The woman who’d pushed the gun aside replied, “Cassandra Wheeler. I’m a police officer. Back to my question–what’s the situation outside?”
At her question, the other four immediately showed curiosity and anticipation.
“Yeah, what’s it like out there? We’ve been trapped here for days. Why hasn’t anyone come to rescue us?”
