This was the opportunity.

Ray didn’t care about humanity or moral high ground. As long as he could kill that husky, nothing else mattered.
Put another way–if the husky escaped, how many humans could it slaughter with its abilities?
If sacrificing these four people meant taking down that husky, then it could even be said they were contributing to all of humanity.
See? It wasn’t like he couldn’t stand on the moral high ground if he wanted to.
The police station was still too small, and the equipment was limited.
There was only one sniper rifle, with just a single box of ammunition to go with it.
All he could do was gamble.
“Let’s go. Outside,” Ray said.
Daniel’s eyes lit up. “You’re agreeing to take me home?”
Cassandra and the other two women also showed looks of hope.
“Heh. We’re going out together. What happens after that–everyone fends for themselves.” Ray had no intention of agreeing,
and he couldn’t even be bothered to lie.
If that were the case, would they refuse to go out? Of course not.
It wouldn’t take long for that husky to finish feasting on Jerry.
Now that the door to the armory was destroyed and could no longer hold the husky back, staying meant waiting for death.
The four were disappointed, but none of them dared say anything–especially Daniel, whose eyes darted around rapidly.
He’d already made up his mind. The moment he figured out which car belonged to Ray, he’d seize it.
Even if he couldn’t beat Ray in a fistfight, it didn’t matter. He had a gun. There was no need to fight fair.
As for Cassandra and the other two women, they had no real opinions of their own. They could only take things one step at a time. Going out offered no guarantees, but it was still better than waiting here to die.
So the five of them left the armory and headed outside.
Ray knew that the husky had to be lurking nearby, watching. Now that they were clearly trying to escape, he didn’t believe the beast could hold back from attacking.
After all, it was still a husky. Even mutated, it couldn’t be that smart.
As they walked, a black shadow suddenly lunged out, charging straight at Daniel at the front.
At the brink of life and death, Daniel erupted with speed and reflexes far beyond normal. He shoved the woman beside him forward, using her as a shield.
“Daniel-!” The woman screamed, her face filled with disbelief, as if she couldn’t accept that Daniel would sell her out like this.
For the past ten–plus days, she’d secretly been his lover. They’d sneaked around at night countless times, doing who knew what. But now, Daniel not only failed to protect her, he actually pushed her in the line of fire to save himself.
How cold–blooded could someone be?

But her scream was cut short instantly. Because her neck had already been bitten through.
A crisp crack sounded, loud and clear to everyone.
In that moment, Cassandra and the other woman went ice–cold, their hearts seized by overwhelming terror. They had no
capacity left to condemn Daniel’s cruelty or heartlessness.
Only Ray took action. He immediately opened a spatial portal. Thousands of ordinary bullets poured out.
‘Spatial perception! Activate!‘ Ray roared in his mind.
The husky dodged the barrage, taking only a few stray hits, and grew even more ferocious. It was absolutely not going to let Ray
escape.
Even if it had to endure a bit of pain, it would kill this human. With its incredible speed, there was no way this human could ever
lock onto it.
