Chapter 183
After graduating, Ray had gone straight into the workforce, while Heather had stayed on for an integrated master’s and doctoral
program.
“I vaguely remember that at the graduation ceremony, Heather was the Valedictorian and gave a speech.”
Ray tried to recall it, but too much time had passed. The memory was already blurred, leaving only a faint impression behind.
“Doug has really gone bad. A mere student, and he actually wants to sleep with a professor? Such outrageous heresy deserves execution. I’ll teach him a lesson!”
He laughed as he spoke. After leaving the teaching building, he headed toward the Literature Building.
It wasn’t far, but the roads outside were treacherous. Ray naturally prioritized safety, so it took him more than ten minutes to reach the Literature Building.
There was a cargo truck parked right at the entrance.
Activating his spatial perception, Ray found no one inside the truck. The cargo compartment was empty as well, aside from a mess of torn packaging–snack wrappers, by the look of it.
When he walked inside and spotted a vending machine, realization dawned on him. The truck must have been delivering supplies for the machines. Unfortunately, it had run straight into the poisonous ice hailstorm, trapping the driver, the vehicle, and the goods all at once.
Clearly, the food and water from the truck had already been moved elsewhere.
Ray nodded. That meant the people here didn’t need to worry about starving–at least for now.
He stepped inside and was just about to head up the stairs when he heard a rapid pounding of footsteps. A group of people came rushing down from above, every face pale with fear.
“Move! Get out of the way!” the person in front shouted at Ray.
Sighing, Ray pulled out his handgun and aimed it forward.
The group came to an abrupt halt.
He swept his gaze across them–fourteen people in total, men and women, young and old. There were clearly both professors and students among them.
Smiling, he asked, “Do you know where Doug is?”
At that, everyone started talking at once.
“Doug grabbed Professor Morty—he’s forcing Professor Campbell to open the door!”
“Doug has gone insane—he’s killing, people on campus!”
“And he’s like some kind of superhuman now! He can freeze people alive into the sculptures!”
Ray nodded. Doug hadn’t succeeded yet.
Good.
“Where are they?”
“Third floor, Room 305.”

“Are… are you a police officer?” a girl asked, mustering her courage.
“No,” Ray replied flatly, instantly shattering her hopes.
He walked through the gap the crowd made for him. Soon, he reached the second floor, then the third.
