The shock left their scalps tingling.

A wrench could certainly kill someone–but thrown from six or seven meters away, smashing through facial bone and embedding itself inside? That was beyond excessive. It was horrifying.

As Mateo collapsed, the two men in the heavy truck could no longer sit still. They yanked open the doors and jumped down, both of them shivering from the cold.

“Damn it, you killed Mateo!”

“Time to die!”

They fired at the same time.

The moment they raised their guns, Ray had already opened the spatial portal. Whoosh–two bullets were fired.

With another thought, chunks of stone shot out of the spatial portal, blasting toward five of the remaining six men.

That didn’t even account for neural reaction time or the need to accelerate. So the five men had almost no chance to respond. Their heads were smashed to pulp.

This was the true danger of falling objects from above.

Ray clicked his tongue.

There had originally been nine of them. In the blink of an eye, only one was left alive–and that wasn’t because he was particularly capable. It was simply because Ray wanted someone left to question.

The man’s face had worn a cruel, mocking grin just moments ago. He hadn’t even had time to put it away before it transformed into pure terror. The shift in expression was nothing short of spectacular.

What just happened? Eight living, breathing men were gone in an instant, all reduced to corpses.

‘A demon. This man is a demon!‘ he thought.

He stared at Ray in a daze, his entire body trembling uncontrollably.

Ray looked back at him and smiled. “What’s your name?”

“R–Rowan Finn,” the man stammered.

Ray nodded. “Where are you guys from?”

“We’re from the Paradigm Group,” Rowan blurted out.

Paradigm Group? The Finley family? Daniel Finley’s family?

Ray’s interest was piqued. “Who’s your boss?”

“Mr. Finley,” Rowan replied without thinking.

Ray rolled his eyes. “And who exactly is this Mr. Finley?”

He knew Paradigm Group–one of Senna City’s major corporations, operating on both sides of the law. But as for the Finley family’s internal lineup? Why would he care?

“Grayson Finley,” Rowan explained. “He founded the Paradigm Group.”

Ray thought for a moment, then asked, “What’s the relationship between Grayson and Daniel?”

“You know Daniel?” Rowan asked in surprise. Could this man be part of the Paradigm Group as well?

Ray slapped Rowan across the face.

Rowan’s cheek burned, and the pain snapped him back to his senses. He hurriedly said, “Daniel is Grayson’s eldest grandson.”

Ray clicked his tongue. “You guys are pretty capable, managing to drive all the way out here.”

After being slapped, Rowan didn’t dare beat around the bush anymore. He quickly explained, “Grayson has a transport fleet that runs to and from Mohe River year–round. All our trucks are equipped with snow chains, insulation, and full cold–weather gear.”
