My Reborn Apocalypse Begins with a Divorce novel Chapter 204

Chapter 204

After giving it some thought, Ray ultimately decided not to set out immediately.

It was simply too far.

It was three in the afternoonby the time he got there, it would be late. And more importantly, even if he managed to take over the Finley family’s estate, going out afterwardfor example, to collect energy- would be a nightmare. It was more than thirty kilometers just to reach the city every single time.

So Ray decided to stockpile more energy first. At the moment, that was his only real weakness.

Ohand firepower.

Once he learned that the Finley family had an ability user, Ray immediately developed a renewed case of firepower anxiety.

Should he prepare a few tens of thousands more highenergy steel bars? Absolutely.

The Finley family had around a hundred people, and they were armed. He had to be cautious.

Ray turned back and returned, making it to the residential complex before the thick fog gathered again.

Along the way, bodies lay strewn everywhere.

Even daytime temperatures had already dropped to around minus forty degrees Celsius. At night, it plunged to minus sixty. With Senna City residentslevel of coldweather preparedness, it was woefully inadequatenowhere near enough.

Hungry, thirsty, and freezing, some people had rushed out to gamble on survival. Most of them, however, became frozen corpses on the streets.

Ray’s state of mind was as calm as an ancient well. Death was just death. It wasn’t like he hadn’t died

before.

As he entered the complex, he saw people inside the security booth. They were holding kitchen knives and other weapons, but there were no signs of life left. They had been frozen to death.

These people had probably reached their limit and planned to ambush him here, making one last desperate attempt. Instead, before he even returned, they froze to death first.

When starving, the human body grows weaker, and its resistance to cold drops even further.

Ray merely swept the area with spatial perception, then continued driving forward.

The entire complex was deathly silent, like a ghost domain.

Were there really only ten living people lefthis harem?

Ray didn’t dwell on it. Under the double blow of extreme cold and lack of supplies, at least ninety percent of the world’s population was bound to die.

Out of ten households, nine would be empty.

This would become the norm across the worldand it would last a very, very long time.

Unless the environment recovered, humanity would find it difficult just to recuperate, let alone return to

its peak.

That night, the entire complex was unusually quietso quiet that Ray almost felt bored.

Fortunately, there were more people at home now, and plenty of games to play.

One night passed. The apocalypse entered its thirtieth day.

Without realizing it, an entire month had gone by.

Tomorrow would be July 1st. But there wasn’t even the slightest hint of summer left.

Will we ever enjoy sunlight again?Ray murmured.

Today, he would head out again to look for energy.

Ray planned to empty every gas station in Senna City. Maybe it wouldn’t be enough to last a lifetimebut enough for several years, at least.

Once he had sufficient energy, he could seriously consider taking over the Finley family’s estate.

He drove out of the residential complex and followed the route he had planned earlier, beginning another round of energy collection.

But plans never kept up with changes.

He had barely cleared his third gas station when he spotted another group busy at workclearly collecting fuel.

Were they the Finley family’s people again?

If they were, he wouldn’t mind wiping out another group. The Finley family only had around a hundred people to begin with, Eliminating them bit by bit would make the final assault easier and reduce the risk.

With that thought in mind, he stopped the car and opened the door.

He moved casually, but the spatial portal had already opened in front of him.

A vehicle drove up, and the group collecting fuel noticed it immediately, all of them turning to look. Each of them was bundled up heavily, their faces wrapped in thick cloth. It wasn’t to hide their identities- it was simply too cold. Without protection, every breath felt like a knife scraping through flesh.

Frost clung to all of their eyebrows.

A man whose features were hard to make out stepped forward. We’re from the Senna City Hope Camp- an official organization. State your identity, or we won’t rule out using coercive measures against you.

Official organization?

Ray almost laughed. In times like these, how could there she offical organizan

Even if there were one, it probably wouldn’t be in Senna City

Still, his curiosity was piqued,

What’s the Hope Camp?he asked.

The man replied, Because of this extreme cold and toxic hail, supplies are scarce, and countess people have frozen, starved, or died of thirst. Years ago, the Senna City government built an underground city It’s not huge, but it can house tens of thousands.

This city beneath the city is what we call the Hope Camp

Hope, young manyou know what that means, right? The camp is built deep underground, dozens of meters below the surface, so the temperature there is far higher than outside. The govemment also stocked large quantities of supplies there long ago, along with advanced equipment and toptier

scientists.

With these scientistsefforts, the toxic water problem will surely be solved, and we’ll make it through this crisis! Young man, there are still a few slots left in the Hope Camp. Would you like to join?

Ray smiled. What would I have to give up to enter this Hope Camp?

The man nodded. First, all supplies inside the camp are distributed according to need. Private property isn’t allowed. Your vehicle will be requisitioned. Of course, the organization won’t take it for nothing- you’ll receive preferential treatment in daily food rations and be assigned a good room. Additionally. everyone in the camp must work. Food doesn’t come out of thin air.

Ray shrugged. Then forget it. I prefer a free life.

Young man!

Seeing Ray turn to leave, the man’s eyes sharpened. He reached out to block him. The Hope Camp represents the organizationit represents our nation. This is an extraordinary time. The organization needs your things, and you refuse to cooperate?

So?Ray said with a smile while thinking, Panicking now, are we?

The man made a hand signal, and the others stopped their work and surrounded him. Anyone who refuses to cooperate with the organization is a traitor. In extraordinary times, extraordinary measures apply. Traitors are executed on sight.
