“I could be dead at the crack of dawn, and you still expect me to kneel to your boss when I see him?” Killian found it utterly
unbelievable.
Edward let out a low, mocking chuckle. “Our boss isn’t an ordinary man. He… has superpowers!”
Killian stared at his cousin as if he’d just seen a ghost, instantly regretting ever agreeing to work with him.
Look at this–terminal apocalypse delusions. Now he was even talking about superpowers.
“Heh, you don’t believe me, do you?” Edward said leisurely. “Honestly, I didn’t believe it at first either. Not until I saw our boss lead us straight into the contractor’s residential complex and start slaughtering people like it was nothing. That’s when i realized this world really does have… ‘supermen.“”
Supermen. Superhumans.
Killian’s mouth fell open. He didn’t know whether to believe Edward’s nonsense or conclude that his cousin had been in the apocalypse for too long and finally snapped under the pressure.
“Hey, let me tell you about it,” Edward said, seeing his reaction, and began recounting the story.
Compared to the hunger and cold gnawing at Killian and Edward, Ray’s villa was brimming with springtime warmth.
Ray indulged in a round of role–playing–though, strictly speaking, it wasn’t really pretending. Honey and Heather were indeed teachers. Though Cassandra worked a desk job, she was very much a policewoman, and a hot one at that. As for Jess and a few others, they were genuinely college students. What was fake about any of it?
So at one moment, Ray was a clueless student secretly tasting forbidden fruit with his deskmate. The next, he became a rebellious student defying his teacher. And when it came to Honey, that gorgeous, seductive woman always had to add one extra
line.
“Where’s my husband?”
The pleasure was off the charts.
Faced with a reality that felt no different from the end of the world, even Heather and Cassandra–who had the strongest sense of moral restraint—cast aside their shame and surrendered themselves to indulgence.
Thankfully, Ray had absorbed several additional abilities, further strengthening his body. Otherwise, he truly might not have been able to hold out.
A night passed, and time rolled into July 1st–a new chapter, in a sense. Yet, the world itself showed no change at all. Dark clouds still blanketed the sky. Bitter cold still coiled around everything.
While Ray and the others were still asleep, Killian and Edward took advantage of the thinning fog and mediately left the complex.
They strapped wooden planks to their feet and used two sticks as poles, fashioning a cruale sled that let them glide across the ice
After traveling for about ten minutes, they found a spot to hide and rest. Once their strength returned, they pressed on
The good news was that their destination wasn’t far Another half hour later, they arrived at a villa district
The two of them went inside and stopped at one of the houses. They knocked and entered. Instantly, a wave of heat rushed over
them.
Killian and Edward felt as if they’d been reborn. They hurriedly shrugged off their bulky coats, though they still had to keep their sweaters on any more, and they’d freeze.

In the living room, a fireplace was roaring. A closer look revealed that it was burning table legs and smashed pieces of a piano. No wonder it was so warm inside–though it still couldn’t compare to Ray’s villa.
That was only natural. Ray’s villa had cost eight million to renovate. Beyond reinforcing its structure, insulation and cold resistance had been top priorities. After all, who could have imagined that Senna City’s temperature would one day plunge to minus forty degrees Celsius, or even lower?
“…Ellis, look–look at this!” a man’s voice suddenly rang out. “Your daughter looks so hot. Haven’t you ever thought about sneaking a peek when she’s taking a shower?”
What kind of twisted nonsense was that?
Killian instinctively looked over and immediately jumped in fright.
