Chapter 221
Who was Shane Connell?
He had been the class monitor back when Ray was in high school. His grades weren’t anything special–he’d only gotten the position because his family was rich.
After graduating, Shane went abroad to study.
Later… years later, he posted an invitation in the old class group chat, inviting everyone to his wedding.
Ray didn’t go.
If you attended a wedding, you couldn’t show up empty–handed. But his entire salary was handed over to his wife every month, leaving him with barely twenty dollars in pocket money. How was he supposed to scrape together a wedding gift?
So he stayed away.
Who would have thought–who could have imagined–that he’d run into an old classmate here of all places?
“Ray? How?” Shane was just as shocked. The man who had kicked in his door was actually a high school classmate.
Ray smiled faintly. “Oh, just wandering around. I happened to come this way.”
‘Wandering around, my ass. In weather like this, you’re telling me you’re just wandering around?‘ Shane thought.
Of course, Shane didn’t believe him. Something suddenly occurred to him, and his heart clenched. He tightened his grip on the kitchen knife and lifted it defensively. “You’re working with those thugs! You’re using our relationship to lower my guard so you can steal my property!”
‘Wow. Impressive imagination–shame it’s pointed in the wrong direction,‘ Ray thought.
Ray put on a look of mock surprise. “I checked villa after villa on the way here. Found bodies everywhere. Those ‘thugs‘ you’re talking about are probably all dead by now.”
What?
Shock flashed across both Shane’s face and the young woman’s. But in the next second, Shane pointed the knife straight at Ray. “You’re lying to me.”
He half believed it, half didn’t.
Were those thugs really dead? How did they die? Was that even possible?
The young woman spoke up instead. “You’re my husband’s former classmate?”
Ray nodded. “Ray Morley. Shane’s high school classmate.”
The woman smiled–a dazzling, flirtatious smile that seemed to bloom with charm. She gestured politely. “I’m Alina Murphy. It’s cold at the door. Come inside and sit.”
Shane grew anxious and whispered into his wife’s ear. “What if he really is working with them?”
Alina shot him an annoyed look and replied just as softly, “The door’s already been smashed open. If he really were with them, could we stop him anyway?”
That… was true.
Left with no choice, Shane sighed. “Fine. Come in and sit.”
Seeing Ray step forward, Shane hurriedly added, “Shoes. Change your shoes. Yours are filthy.”

Ray couldn’t help but laugh. At a time like this, Shane was still worried about that?
Typical rich kid–so particular.
Ray thought about it. Since he’d have to take them off anyway, might as well do it now.
He pulled off his boots, slipped into a pair of slippers, and followed the couple into the living room.
Sure enough, a fireplace was burning there–though the amount of firewood left inside was pitifully small.
Shane glanced at Ray and couldn’t help showing a smug smile. “Surprised, huh? Didn’t expect us to have a fireplace, did you? Heh, I’ll bet you the entire Senna City doesn’t have more than this many houses with fireplaces.”
He held up one hand–five fingers.
Clearly, he was flexing, assuming Ray was poor.
Ray was speechless again.
At a time like this, Shane was still showing off his wealth? Wasn’t he afraid Ray would rob him and then sleep with his wife?
Honestly, robbing and killing–no real interest there. But sleeping with Shane’s wife? Oh, absolutely.
These days, Ray’s lust was burning hotter and hotter.
“Ray,” Shane finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. “How did you get here? And what exactly are you here for?”
Everything about this was too strange.
Ray smiled calmly. “I drove here. As for why I came…” He chuckled. “I’m here to settle an old score with you, Shane.”
