What a show.

Ray didn’t intervene. He just sat back, watching Shane’s lapdog tear Shane apart.

“Let go! L–let go!” Shane shouted, his face turning red and purple as Ace choked him while landing blows. Slaps stung, sure, but it was the grip on his throat that made it hard to breathe. He was close to passing out.

Seeing this, Catherine yelled at Alina, “What are you standing there for? Are you going to just watch your husband die?”

Then she ran to the kitchen.

Alina froze for a moment, but panic propelled her forward. She lunged at Ace, grabbing his hand to pry it off Shane’s neck.

But Ace was too strong; there was no way she could overpower him.

Luckily, Ace had to split some of his strength just to hold Shane, which gave Shane a moment to gasp for air, preventing instant

death.

At that moment, Catherine returned–this time holding a kitchen knife.

Seeing her husband focused entirely on throttling Shane, rage and desperation surged through her. She plunged the knife forward with all her might.

The blade pierced Ace’s vest.

“Ahhh-!” Ace screamed, releasing his grip and stumbling backward. He reached for the knife but couldn’t grab it.

“Shit! Shit! Shit!” He cursed over and over.

Turning, he finally saw Catherine, and his expression twisted with shock, fury, pain, realization–and, oddly, a hint of relief.

“Die!” Shane roared, breaking free. He shoved Ace hard.

Ace, drained of strength, slammed into the wall. The knife lodged in his back shifted further inward.

The strike was precise–it hit the back of his heart. Catherine’s strength hadn’t been enough to reach it, but Shane’s shove drove the blade home.

Ace didn’t even glance at Shane. His eyes locked on his wife, mouth opening to speak–but only blood spilled out. He couldn’t form a single word.

His

gaze darkened. Resentful, frustrated, defeated–his head drooped, and he collapsed to the floor. Fresh blood seeped from

his back.

Catherine was ruthless.

But the show was impressive. Worth the effort.

Ray clapped his hands slowly. “Well done.”

Alina, however, stared at Shane. “That boy… he really is your son?”

Could Shane deny it? Catherine had just been willing to kill her own husband to save him. Would there have been any doubt, any illicit affair?

Shane had no choice. “Yes… yes, he is. Listen, honey, let me explain! You know you can’t have children, and I couldn’t let the family line die out. I had no other choice! But you have to believe me–I love only you. She was just… a fling.”

His words didn’t comfort Alina, but they infuriated Catherine.
