“This must be worth quite a lot,” Austin muttered, suddenly uneasy. “If we eat it… will we be in trouble?” Fantasia thought for a moment, then brushed the worry aside.

“What could happen? It can’t be more than 100 dollars. What’s he going to do–call the police on us? A child accidentally took it. No matter how big the fuss, what can they possibly do?”

With that logic, Austin stopped protesting.

The three of them began to eat.

“Mmm, this is really good.”

“It is.”

“This meat is unbelievably fresh!”

Cody couldn’t help himself. “Grandma, can I steal another one tomorrow?”

“No problem,” Fantasia said.

They enjoyed the entire meal without a hint of guilt. When half a day passed and Ray still didn’t show up to demand it back, Fantasia let out a smug little laugh.

Her threat yesterday must’ve scared him off.

Today’s meal really was delicious. Hopefully he’d order again. He wouldn’t dare say a thing anyway, she thought smugly.

But as the evening crept in, Fantasia began to feel a strange heat rising through her body. Austin felt it too. They exchanged a glance and quickly sent their grandson to the living room to watch TV, then slipped into their room. For a moment, things went quiet. Then noise started up again. Then quiet. Then noise again. Over and over. When their son and daughter–in–law came home, they found Cody still in front of the TV, eyes half–closed from who–knows–how–long he’d been sitting there.

The daughter–in–law grew furious. She pushed open the door to Austin and Fantasia’s room, ready to scold them

-and froze.

Her face flamed instantly, and she backed out as fast as she could.

“What’s wrong?” her husband asked.

“Your parents–your parents-” She couldn’t finish the sentence. It was too mortifying. How could they be engaged in intimate acts… with a child right outside? How shameless could they get?

Just then Fantasia screamed from inside the room, her voice shrill with panic.

“Son! Son! Call 911! Something’s happened to your dad!”

“What happened to him?” the son asked, utterly baffled.

Fantasia stammered for a long moment before blurting, “He… he’s been hard since this afternoon and just passed out!”

The son stared in disbelief. His father was already that old–how could he end up in a situation like this?

He fumbled for his phone and made the call.

Soon the ambulance arrived.

Austin and Fantasia were wheeled out together. A sheet covered them, but anyone with eyes could see they were naked beneath it. And the fact that they were being taken down together said enough on its own.

In a neighborhood this small, nothing stayed secret.

“Ha! You hear? The Cameron couple got themselves into trouble while being intimate and had to call the ambulance.”

“No way. They’re only thirty–how could they-”
