Chapter 40
Honey hurried to explain, “Babe, listen to me–nothing really happened between him and me. He is doing this on purpose to make you misunderstand me!”
Ray, meanwhile, gave her a quick wink. “I’m pretty satisfied with you. Come find me again next time.”
With that, he turned and went down the emergency stairwell.
When the fire door closed, he could still hear Justin and Honey arguing loudly inside.
Ray smiled faintly, thinking, ‘You hurt me once, I paid you back once. We’re even now.‘
Still, Honey was quite proud and stubborn at the moment. He wondered whether, when the disaster came- when there was no food, no water, when she was starving and parched–she could still keep that kind of pride, or whether she would throw away her dignity in front of a full meal and let herself be toyed with.
If she’d rather starve to death than lose her chastity, he’d respect her. He would wait and see.
Ray went home, washed up, changed his clothes, went out for lunch, then headed to the warehouse to continue receiving goods and making purchases.
Days passed one by one, and the end of the world drew closer.
The money he had in the stock market had ballooned to a staggering 300 million dollars. Although the two- month period wasn’t up yet, he had already started liquidating his positions and began a wild buying spree.
Pork–he bought 5,000 tons in one go, burning through more than 10 million.
Beef–another 5,000 tons, another 20 million gone.
Lamb–another 5,000 tons. Even more expensive. Over 30 million spent.
However, he didn’t buy large amounts of live fish or shrimp, because living things couldn’t be stored in the dimensional space,
and dead fish and shrimp didn’t taste good. Besides, he had already collected nearly ten thousand banquet tables‘ worth of dishes–fish, shrimp, and crab were in no short supply.
Fruit–every kind imaginable, he bought each type in quantities of 1,000 tons.
Vegetables–same deal: 1,000 tons of each kind.
–
Rice as much as he could get, he took.
All kinds of coarse grains as well–1,000 tons of each.
Under Ray’s insane spending, the balance in his bank account could never grow. The moment it crossed 10 million, it would be spent completely.
By the time the date reached May 17, even counting the unrealized profits in the stock market, he only had about 20 million left.
Spending money was fucking exhausting.
The villa renovation wasn’t finished on schedule. It dragged on until today, when Noel officially handed the

house over for inspection.
Ray moved into the new house, tested every design and modification he had requested, and, once satisfied, paid the final balance.
Two days later, the modified G–Class was also finished, and he was notified to collect it,
Ray arrived at the entrance of the residential complex when he heard someone call his name,
It was Lauren.
