Chapter 39

Honey stared blankly for a moment before understanding his meaning. Her face flushed, then immediately darkened with anger.

You’re shameless!she snapped.

She turned, pulled the door open, and walked out.

Right then, a young couple from unit 1503 happened to be waiting for the elevator. It was rush hour for work and school, and the elevators were crowded. Their usual elevator had just gone down, so they had come over to this side.

Seeing them, Honey seemed afraid of being misunderstood, or perhaps she wanted to assert her own righteousness. She said loudly, Ray, don’t think having some money makes you so great. I would never agree to such a shameless request from you!

With that, she hurried away, taking the emergency stairs up.

The young couple naturally looked at Ray with strange, judgmental eyes.

Did the situation even need explanation?

Ray had tried to use his money to keep Honey, and she had refused.

They found him disgusting, a pervert.

And on top of that, she said something like that in front of the neighbors that was obviously deliberate, an attempt to smear him.

Fine. He would show her!

Ray let out a cold laugh and headed up the emergency stairwell as well.

He knocked on the door of unit 1702.

Who is it?A man’s voice came from inside, thick with irritation.

Property management,Ray replied.

The door opened. It was exactly the booze stinking man from two days ago.

Naturally, he saw Ray and froze.

At the same time, Honey was peeking around from inside. When she saw Ray, guilt flashed across her face,

Ray even waved at Honey and said, I haven’t given you the money yet. Why did you run so fast? How do you want to receive it? I don’t have any cash. Give me an account, and I’ll transfer it to you.

The boozestinking man, whose name was Justin Blakely, froze for a moment, then exploded in fury and roared at Ray, What money? What did you two do?

Ray quickly waved his hands and smiled. Don’t misunderstand. We didn’t do anything.

That part was true.

But how could Justin possibly believe it?

If there was no money, why would this rich guy be giving his wife money? And he was only wearing a bathrobe!
