Chapter 44
Many TV stations had temporarily switched to breaking news, reporting on the sudden hailstorm.
The hail was toxic.
That fact had already been confirmed. Experts on the news warned loudly that people must never touch the hail out of curiosity, and absolutely must not lick it. At best, it would cause severe diarrhea. At worst, it could cause instant death. This was no joke.
Ray switched to Gohaven TV (GOTV). At a time like this, GOTV was naturally the most authoritative source.
GOTV was running a live broadcast, connecting with three experts in climate science, chemistry, and astronomy.
The astronomy expert speculated that this wave of strangely poisonous hail might be related to mysterious rays from deep space that had appeared a few days earlier, causing unknown effects on Earth.
The climate expert believed that Earth had already entered an early ice age. Although the temperature wouldn’t drop to absurd extremes all at once, people should be prepared to face temperatures at least ten degrees colder than normal winters.
The chemistry expert was testing and analyzing the liquid melted from the hailstones, but couldn’t determine what the toxin was. All he could do was issue a stark warning: Do not drink water contaminated by the toxic hail.
Then all three experts gave the same advice: Do not go outside.
The hail itself was extremely dangerous, and now it was also highly toxic. People should stay indoors no matter what, at least until the hail stopped.
Ray couldn’t help but shake his head.
The wish was beautiful. The reality was cruel.
In his last life, the hail had not stopped for fifteen straight days. It had become smaller, yes–less dense, with smaller stones–but it never truly stopped. And without advance preparation, very few families had enough food and clean water to last.
He took several dishes out of his storage space and set them on the table. He ate while scooping some food for the mutt. In short, whatever he ate, the dog ate too.
After eating and resting for a while, he started working out.
This habit had to be maintained.
After finishing his workout, he took a shower.
Now he was using the water storage tank. It held a full five cubic meters. As long as he made sure it didn’t run dry, the taps in the house would never stop. Showering, of course, was no problem, and the toilet could flush normally.
At night, he finished off the leftovers from lunch.
Even though his supplies were enough to last him several hundred lifetimes, Ray had no habit of wasting food.

Chapter 44
Waste was shameful.
After dinner, he put on thick clothes, brought his dog–he had named it “Leo“-and went down to the
basement,
There was an iron door there. He checked the surveillance feed first, then opened it, walked out, and started walking the dog,
The basement was connected to the complex’s parking garage. After walking through a long, narrow passage, he
arrived there.
It was lively.
With nowhere else to go, the old men and women were doing their square dancing there. Dog owners were walking their pets in circles around the garage. Some young people were even kicking a ball around.
But the garage was only so big. On normal days, it looked empty. Now, with so many people squeezed in, it was naturally overcrowded.
Arguments broke out quickly.
