Ray felt light all over.

Sure enough, a person couldn’t keep bottling things up forever–the dam would break sooner or later.
He went back upstairs, and Leo immediately circled around him, sniffing him a few times before tilting its head as if asking, ‘Why do you smell like someone else?‘
Ray laughed. “Forgot you’ve got a sharp nose.
“Leo, from now on, guarding the house is your job. If you hear any strange sounds or smell someone else’s scent, you’d better let me know!” He said it with a smile, not caring whether the dog actually understood.
“Woof! Woof!” To his surprise, Leo barked twice, as if agreeing.
“Good dog.” Ray picked up his phone and started scrolling.
Both Lucy and Keisha had messaged him. The extreme weather had already lasted two days, and the situation showed no signs of improving. They were both worried, but one was living inside a doomsday bunker, and the other had received large amounts of supplies he had mailed earlier. At the very least, they could hold out for two or three months without a problem.
When Ray checked further, he found that every group chat had become lively.
Work groups–people trapped inside their companies were crying for help.
Long–silent elementary, middle school, high school, and college group chats–everyone had panicked and started sending distress messages through every possible channel.
There was nothing he could do to help.
He himself wanted to go out and get gasoline and diesel, but in this thick fog, he didn’t dare move recklessly. A car crash would happen in minutes.
The daytime passed in boredom.
Night fell.
The underground garage was completely empty. The temperature down there had dropped too low. No one wanted to come and freeze, and the fewer people there were, the colder it became. It was a vicious cycle.
Suddenly, four figures quietly appeared.
They tiptoed in, terrified of making any noise.
But the more they tried not to make sound, the louder their footsteps echoed in the silent garage. They glared at each other, each one thinking the others‘ footsteps were too loud.
It was the Gantt family.
At last, they reached the villa where Ray lived. Past a narrow passage was the basement, but that was private property, sealed by a metal door.

Lauren had Josh and Max hide along the wall. The moment the door opened, the two of them would rush in and restrain Ray.
Then she knocked on the door.
Before coming, she had already called Ray.
Inside the basement, Ray watched the surveillance feed. The little trick the Gantt family was playing couldn’t escape his eyes at all.
They would never have imagined that Ray hadn’t installed just one camera–but three, covering the entire passage without a single blind spot.
As expected, the whole family had come.
They wanted to take him down… or kill him… And occupy his home.
Ray smiled and opened the door.
Josh and Max charged in instantly.
In less than a second, Josh and Max’s bodies were sent flying back out.
Then Ray walked out with his arms crossed, looking at Lauren with a mocking gaze.
