When the sharp click echoed through the space, the five of them finally snapped back to their senses.

What was going on?

At that moment, a light suddenly switched on.

The room flooded with brightness.

The five members of the Cameron family froze in fear. What was happening? Was this place haunted? The door opened and closed by itself, and now the lights turned on too?

“What are you doing here this late at night?” Ray’s voice sounded, followed by a lazy yawn.

He had been getting ready to sleep when the alarm on his phone woke him up. The infrared camera instantly captured the Cameron family of five. When he saw they were about to leave, he thoughtfully used the remote control to open the door for them.

Now that they were inside, it was time to shut the door and beat the dogs.

At first, the Cameron family was startled. Then they realized that the opening and closing of the door, as well as the lights, were all controlled by Ray.

But they quickly calmed down.

After all, Ray was alone.

Five against one–how could they lose?

Besides, Ray didn’t even have a weapon.

“There’s electricity here!” Fantasia exclaimed, a step slow, but the first to blurt it out.

Greg and the others snapped out of it as if waking from a dream, and their faces lit up with joy.

This house with electricity was theirs now.

“And it’s warm, too!”

In that instant, they almost felt like crying from relief. This place felt so good and wonderful.

Ray smiled and explained on his own, “I installed a battery backup system, so I didn’t lose power. And I’ve got a fireplace burning wood.”

Oh, so that’s how it was. The Cameron family nodded instinctively–then, suddenly, they got angry.

Were they here to be educated?

“Perfect. This villa belongs to us now.” Greg gestured with the kitchen knife in his hand. “Ray, I’m not an unreasonable man. I’ll give you two choices. Either you walk out the door quietly yourself, or we’ll chop you up, hammer you to death, then throw you out!”

“Hahahaha!” The Cameron family burst into laughter. Even the child, Cody, laughed along.

Was this really a choice? Of course not. They were just toying with him.

He had humiliated them again and again. They would teach him a lesson this time! So what if he were rich? Being rich wouldn’t get him out of this.

Even little Cody was wildly arrogant. He pointed the scissors at Ray.

“Kneel!”

Ray chuckled. “Your whole family really is… never mind. It’s late, and I need to sleep. I’m not wasting my time with you.”

He raised his hand and shaped it like a gun, aiming at Greg.

“Haha! You think you can scare me with a ‘hand gun‘?” Greg laughed so hard he bent over.

Ray grinned. “Bang!”

“Ah-!” Greg collapsed on the spot. A blossom of blood burst from his left leg, the pain so sharp it pierced to the bone.

The other four Cameron family members were stunned.

How had Greg gotten hurt?

They rushed to pull him to his feet, but the moment they touched him, his screams only grew more agonized.

Felicia whipped her head toward Ray and shrieked, “What did you do to my son, you monster? If anything happens to him, I swear I’ll end you!”

Ray let out a low chuckle, thinking, ‘You broke into my home to kill me, planning to force me outside to be poisoned, crushed, or frozen to death. But the second I defend myself, you lose your minds and say you won’t let me live?

‘Sigh. People who never operate on logic–why would you expect them to start now?‘
