The beam from the flashlight hit Justin square in the eyes. Even shielding his face with his hands did nothing. He stumbled backward until he slammed against the hallway wall.
A harsh, swinging beam of light cut through the darkness, and Ray stepped out.
“Quite the appetite you have,” he said coldly,
“Ray, I’ll kill you!” Justin roared, swinging his cleaver wildly toward the source of the light.
He couldn’t even see where Ray was–he was just hacking at the brightness–but by now, rage had completely clouded his mind,
Ray smirked, then kicked out sharply.
Justin couldn’t see it coming, but he felt it. A solid impact slammed into his gut, sending him staggering backward until he finally tumbled out of the hallway and collapsed on the floor.
The cleaver clattered beside him.
Ray stepped forward and casually picked it up, then held it steadily in front of Justin’s face.
Still dazed, Justin blinked. The blade was right there. He almost pissed himself.
The bravado fueled by his earlier fury evaporated, replaced by a cold, clenching terror that made sweat bead across his back.
“Y–you… don’t do anything crazy!” he stammered.
In that moment, he was once again the same cowering, trembling man from the elevator months ago.
Ray glanced at Honey, a wicked smile playing on his lips. “I’m thinking of buying your wife. Name your price- how many packs of instant noodles, how many bottles of water do you want?”
Justin hesitated.
He could discard his wife–after all, Honey had betrayed him–but selling her to Ray? That was a different matter entirely.
Would he still be a man?
Even in the old days, only a degenerate gambler would sell his wife.
If he named a price, he’d be branded with shame forever.
“Hurry up. My patience is limited.” Ray pressed the blade against Justin’s neck. The cold steel made him shiver uncontrollably, and a hot wave of panic surged from his core.
Luckily, he was bundled up against the cold. Even if he wet himself, no one would notice.
“Ten packs! Ten packs!” Justin blurted out, desperate to get the threat away from him.
Ray snorted and looked at Honey.

She sat there, utterly drained, expressionless and lifeless, like a broken doll,
Seizing the moment, Justin quietly scrambled to his feet. He wanted to retreat home, slam the door, and never hear Ray’s name again.
But Ray’s eyes flashed. In one swift motion, the cleaver slashed.
Blood sprayed.
The blade lodged in Justin’s neck, a torrent of red pouring out. Ray tried to pull it free, but it was stuck fast.
He shrugged. He didn’t care about this weapon. Cold steel was easy enough to come by. He stepped back, avoiding the spray.
Anyone who came at him with a blade didn’t get to walk away. And killing in front of a crowd now? It didn’t scare him.
A dead silence fell.
“Murder! He killed him!”
“Ray’s a murderer!”
The crowd scattered in terror. Even in chaos, an open killing was enough to horrify everyone.
Then, Honey suddenly stood. She staggered toward Justin.
Justin’s consciousness was already fading, but seeing his wife approach brought a last flicker of hope to his eyes.
Honey reached out, gripping the knife lodged in Justin’s throat. With all her strength, she pulled it free, collapsing to the floor beside him.
Justin clutched his wound with one hand and pointed a trembling finger at Ray with the other, as if to say, ‘ Honey, finish him!‘
Honey swung the cleaver–but not toward Ray. It struck Justin’s face instead.
The blade couldn’t pierce bone, but it gouged out one of his eyes. The other eye widened in disbelief. His obedient wife… had just swung a knife at him.
He stared at Honey, unable to process it. Her blow was more shocking than anything Ray had done.
She pulled the knife out and swung again and again until her arms trembled and she finally collapsed, weeping uncontrollably.
She felt wronged, humiliated, and bitter. She had given everything for her husband, and in return… he had “sold “her for ten packs of instant noodles.
A woman consumed by love, once pushed into darkness, was not to be trifled with.
Even Ray had to bare his teeth. A woman like that was too dangerous to hold close—she might turn the blade on him in the middle of the night.
