My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 185

A sleek car pulled up to the curb moments later.

Lucian walked over and opened the driver's side door of his own vehicle.

Melody froze, confusion flashing across her face. "You aren't taking me home?"

This was definitely not how she had envisioned the night ending.

Lucian's voice was devoid of emotion. "I'm going home. My wife is waiting for me."

Melody injected a heavy dose of pathetic distress into her voice. "Lucian, I'm still so shaken up. Please, couldn't you just drive me back?"

She tried her best to look small and incredibly fragile.

Lucian cut her off, his tone perfectly even but laced with undeniable distance.

"Melody, if something like this happens again, you need to call your family or the police."

He paused, his piercing gaze making it clear he saw right through her. "It isn't appropriate for a married man to be picking you up in the middle of the night."

A married man.

The words struck Melody like a physical blow.

Her face drained of color. Her lips parted as she struggled to formulate a response, but the words died in her throat.

Lucian slid into his car, started the engine, and drove off without a second glance.

The truth was, he had caught on the moment he arrived.

The guy had been practically screaming about being framed.

Melody stood stranded on the sidewalk, a twisted mix of humiliation and fury bubbling in her chest.

Seraphina Simmons.

She silently cursed the name, her eyes burning with pure hatred.

Why?

Why did that woman get all of Lucian's devotion without even lifting a finger?

Just then, a black sedan rolled to a stop right in front of her.

The driver stepped out and gave a polite nod. "Ms. Monroe, Mr. Langford instructed me to see you safely home."

Melody shot the driver a venomous glare before yanking the door open and sliding into the back seat.

As the car merged into traffic, she leaned her head back and squeezed her eyes shut.

Lucian's cold, impatient stare replayed on an endless loop in her mind.
