My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 287

Half an hour later, the luxury sedan coasted smoothly into the garage of their private estate.

Cutting the engine, Lucian turned his head toward the passenger seat.

Her head was tilted to the side, her eyes heavy and half-shut. She was already dozing off again.

In these final weeks, extreme fatigue constantly plagued her. Even a short car ride was enough to completely drain her.

"Sera, we're home," he murmured softly, leaning over to unclick her seatbelt.

She rubbed her eyes, fighting through the thick haze of sleep. "Already?"

"It's been a while. You've been asleep for nearly half an hour," he replied, equal parts tender and amused.

"I was out that long?" she mumbled, bewildered.

She grabbed the edge of the seat, bracing herself to climb out, but he was already moving. He rounded the hood, pulled the door open, and scooped her up into his arms in one fluid motion.

"I can walk," she whispered, her arms naturally winding around his neck in half-hearted protest.

She felt like a beached whale right now. It had to be a struggle to carry her.

"I know you can. But I prefer carrying you." He didn't even break a sweat, his eyes gleaming with unabashed affection.

A hot flush crept up her cheeks. Defeated, she buried her burning face into his shoulder and stayed quiet.

Susan came bustling out to greet them but stopped in her tracks at the romantic sight. Flashing a knowing smile, she silently stepped aside and held the front door open wide.

He carried his wife up the grand staircase and straight into the master suite, laying her down as gently as possible.

"Get some sleep. I need to run over some paperwork in the study." He pulled the duvet up to her chest, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.

She caught the edge of his sleeve. "Don't stay up too late."

"I won't," he promised before turning and slipping out the door.

Left alone in the massive bed, her exhaustion suddenly vanished.

She stared blankly at the ceiling, her mind racing as she dissected everything that had gone down at the manor.

She would need to be extremely cautious moving forward.

It was painfully obvious that Lawrence's faction was in an absolute panic over her pregnancy.
