The exhibition hall gradually filled with people.
Melody Monroe noticed a few attendees sneaking photos of them, but instead of pulling away, she leaned closer to Landon Langford, making them appear undeniably intimate.
She wanted Lucian Langford to see this.
Even if he didn't care, she still wanted him to see it.
She wanted to prove that Melody Monroe was still highly sought after.
She was determined to create that exact illusion.
As the two of them strolled into the third exhibition hall, someone approached from the opposite direction.
The woman had been staring at them intently.
Melody's footsteps faltered for a moment.
It was a distant relative of the Langford family, known in their social circles as Priscilla Zeller, a woman notorious for her loose lips and love of gossip.
The moment Priscilla saw Landon and Melody walking side by side, her eyes visibly lit up.
"Landon?" Priscilla took the initiative to greet them, her gaze darting back and forth across Melody. "Is this... your girlfriend?"
She wore an expression that screamed she had just stumbled upon the biggest scoop of the year, utterly thrilled by the gossip.
Landon neither denied nor confirmed it, simply offering a faint smile. "Priscilla, you're here for the exhibition too? This is the Monroe family's daughter, Melody."
After the brief introduction, he turned to Melody. "This is Priscilla."
Melody offered a poised and polite greeting. "Priscilla."
The entire interaction carried a hint of ambiguity.
Priscilla offered a meaningful smile. "If Grandmother Eleanor finds out about this, she'll be absolutely thrilled."
Landon just smiled, choosing not to respond.
Melody didn't shy away either, returning a graceful smile that perfectly captured the refined restraint expected of a wealthy heiress.
Landon guided Melody forward, denying Priscilla any chance to press for more details.
Once they were out of earshot, Melody spoke in a soft tone. "Knowing her, I suspect the entire social circle will know you brought a date to the exhibition before tomorrow morning."
The Langford family, in particular, would undoubtedly be the first to hear of it.
"That's exactly what I want." Landon's voice was low. "Her mouth is far more effective than paying for front-page coverage."
Melody turned her head to look at him.
