The person puffed out their chest. "Yes, I did."

Seraphina nodded. "Then worry about yourself first."

The person's face instantly dropped. "What do you mean by that?"

Seraphina tossed the roster back onto her desk. "Exactly what I said."

A heavy silence fell over the office.

Seymour coughed loudly. "Alright, that's enough arguing."

He turned his attention to Seraphina. "Seraphina, the stream allocations are finalized for now. If you're struggling, you can file a formal complaint with the project management committee."

Seraphina declined flatly. "There's no need."

Seymour frowned. "Are you sure about that?"

"Positive."

Melody looked at her with feigned pity. "Ms. Simmons, I know you refuse to show weakness in front of everyone, but the project timeline won't wait for your pride."

Seraphina stood up, calmly organizing the loose papers on her desk into a file folder. "Rest assured, Melody, I never let personal emotions dictate my work."

Melody let out a soft sigh. "That's good to hear."

The onlookers stared at Seraphina, their eyes brimming with undisguised contempt.

A group lead without a single member.

Completely utterly useless.

But Seraphina merely picked up her water mug and headed toward the breakroom.

The moment she reached the doorway, a voice muttered from behind her, "She really knows how to put on an act."

Another chimed in, "Let's wait for the afternoon progress meeting. We'll see how she tries to spin this then."

Seraphina's phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out, read the notification, and a faint smirk touched her lips. "Almost there."

When lunchtime arrived, Seraphina was just about to leave when Seymour called out, stopping her in her tracks.

He stood by her desk, holding The Consolidated Team Roster with a patronizing smirk plastered across his face. "Seraphina, you currently have zero members in your group. If it's just you acting as the lead, I'm afraid there's no way for you to push this project forward."

Several people in the office visibly perked up, eavesdropping on the conversation.

Seymour gently tapped the document on her desk. "I'm afraid it won't be justifiable to let you keep this leadership title much longer."

Seraphina gave him a fleeting glance. "It's fine. I'll resolve it."

Seymour choked slightly on her dismissive tone.
