My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 521

The elevator doors closed, and the smile on Seraphina Simmons's face instantly vanished.

She glanced down at her phone, watching the unread notifications in The Team Slack Channel pile up.

Someone sent a meme.

Another person asked what kind of coffee Melody Monroe preferred.

Messages flooded the screen, but not a single one mentioned the project.

The elevator chimed open, and Seraphina dropped her phone into her purse as she headed toward the parking garage.

Christian Chase was already standing by the car; seeing her approach, he immediately stepped forward and pulled the door open. "Mrs. Langford."

Just as Seraphina leaned in to get into the vehicle, a cup of Artisan Milk Tea suddenly appeared in her line of sight.

She looked up, her gaze meeting Lucian Langford's eyes.

Seraphina couldn't help but smile. "What's this?"

Lucian nudged the drink into her hands. "Coaxing you."

Seraphina gripped the cup. "Is Mr. Langford's business scope expanding this widely now?"

Lucian held her gaze. "A temporary expansion."

Christian stood off to the side, eyes trained on the ground, trying his hardest to blend in as a piece of the car door.

Seraphina slid into the seat, and the moment she poked the straw through the lid, Lucian reached over and grasped her free hand.

The car door clicked shut.

Seraphina took a sip; the sweetness was perfect, and the tapioca pearls were wonderfully soft.

Seeing her expression relax, Lucian finally spoke. "I know Landon Langford requested to split the stream."

Seraphina chewed on her straw, looking at him.

Lucian continued, "I could have stalled the temporary adjustments from the project management committee on a procedural level, but that would have given the board an excuse to accuse me of overstepping. So, I didn't stop it."

Seraphina nodded. "Right."

Lucian watched her closely. "But I didn't know he was going to shove Melody in as a group lead."

Seraphina took another sip of her Artisan Milk Tea. "It's fine, let her do what she wants."

Lucian furrowed his brows, his eyes fixed on her. "Let her?"

"People can choose whichever side they want to stand on. That's their business."

Seraphina placed the cup into the holder, her tone light. "I can't exactly walk around with a list and beg them one by one to pick me."

Lucian studied her for a moment. "Are you really not angry?"

Seraphina countered, "Do I look like I should be angry?"

Lucian didn't answer that directly; instead, he reached out and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "I'm just worried you'll feel wronged."
