Melody stepped out of her office, her composure fully restored. "We proceed as planned. Mr. Langford and the Vice President will both be attending this afternoon's meeting."
The members of Group B immediately straightened their backs, the tension in the air thickening.
Melody placed a file on a nearby desk. "They might be a championship-tier team, but this project isn't a competition. The Langford Group needs a practical execution plan, not a flashy technical showcase."
Someone quickly chimed in, "Exactly. They just got here. There's no way they'll have enough time."
"We've prepared so much data. We aren't going to lose."
Melody picked up a marker and began writing out the modules on the whiteboard. "Double-check all the data. I'll arrange the presentation order. Do not leave any loopholes for Group A to exploit."
The sound of frantic typing erupted from Group B's side, the printer endlessly churning out paper as everyone skipped lunch.
Over in Group A, the delivery had arrived.
Gabe walked in carrying two massive bags of drinks. "Iced Americanos, hot lattes, artisan milk tea with less sugar, and whose lemon tea is this?"
Leona raised her hand. "Mine."
Xavier reached out to grab a cup, but Leona swatted his hand away. "Grab your own bitter melon juice."
Xavier's face dropped. "Who ordered me bitter melon juice?"
Winona didn't even look up from her screen. "I did. To cool your temper."
Gabe laughed so hard he almost shoved his straw in sideways.
Seraphina, scrolling through the shared drive logs, suddenly spoke up. "At 10:46 PM last night, Group B's archive section was modified."
Zachary asked, "By who?"
Seraphina pulled up the exact log. "Liam."
Liam's hands froze over his keyboard. He didn't dare type another keystroke.
Winona took a sip of her coffee and stared at him. "Liam, you've got quick hands."
Liam braced himself. "I was just organizing the files."
Seraphina clicked on the next line. "At 11:13 PM, you deleted an original test file."
The office instantly fell silent.
Liam turned pale. "I didn't delete it. I just moved it to the recycling bin."
Xavier chuckled. "Is the recycling bin your personal safety deposit box?"
Seymour hurried over. "Seraphina, we can discuss this after the meeting. Let's focus on the presentation for now."
Seraphina checked the time. "Fine."
She didn't push it further.
But Liam was now fully panicking.
Melody gripped her marker tightly, turning back to the whiteboard. "Re-verify the backups. No one is to touch Group A's files again."
