Winona let out a sharp, incredulous laugh. "A second ago, you guys were bragging about how Melody's leadership guaranteed you wouldn't lose to a team led by someone with just a bachelor's degree. Now that you've been destroyed, you're crying about her credentials? Have you got no shame?"
"Or is it that all your fancy advanced degrees just can't handle getting crushed by an undergrad?"
The man flushed a deep red. "I'm just stating facts! She had almost no time to prepare. There's no way she built this alone!"
Winona leaned forward, her eyes narrowing. "Even with just a bachelor's degree, our boss completely wiped the floor with all of you—and that includes your precious Lead Monroe."
Melody's face instantly turned completely ashen.
Seraphina cast a warning glance. "Winona."
Winona broke eye contact. "Fine. I'll shut up."
Zachary slid his laptop across the table toward Committee Member Chen. "The entire risk framework was drafted by Sera last night. All we did today was plug in the data and run the engineering verifications."
Xavier chimed in seamlessly, "To be more specific, she had the core architecture completely mapped out this morning, right before she was shoved into a desk next to the recycling bin."
Gabe raised his hand high. "I can testify to that. My only jobs today were ordering coffee and running the simulation scripts."
Leona delivered the final blow. "He's the one who ordered the bitter melon juice, too."
The two Technical Committee members shot Gabe a brief look before burying their heads back into the documents.
Sitting at the head of the table, Lucian let his gaze sweep past Seraphina and settle onto Landon.
Landon remained dead silent.
He had fully intended to watch Seraphina make a fool of herself, hoping it would force Lucian to intervene. He wanted the board whispering that the Langford Group's most critical project had been reduced to a toy for the CEO to pacify his wife.
But Seraphina hadn't gone to Lucian for help.
She had brought in The Zenith Collective.
And worse, she was the undisputed mastermind behind it all.
Committee Member Chen finally spoke. "Group A's proposal holds a distinctly higher priority. I recommend shifting primary resources to Group A for the next phase. Group B will handle auxiliary verification."
The other committee member nodded in agreement. "I second that. We absolutely cannot hand the main initiative over to Group B."
Seymour opened his mouth, but couldn't scrape together a single counter-argument.
Landon forced a tight smile. "If the Technical Committee says so, I have no objections. The project's success is what matters most."
Lucian lifted his gaze. "Proceed with Group A's proposal."
The final word had been spoken.
The entire Group B sat glued to their chairs, their faces cycling through shades of sickly pale and bruised purple.
