My Wedding Day Switch To Ex's Uncle novel Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Something Felt Off

Abigail knew this idea was insane, but she was out of options.

This scandal would spread through Claudia's entire elite circle within half an hour. She refused to be humiliated alongside those cheaters, left to rot in shame. This one last desperate gamble was her only chance to salvage what little dignity she had left.

But reality was brutally cold.

Despite the chaos, no one stepped forward. Only more eyes—scrutinizing, pitying, even contemptuous—pinned her to this stage of humiliation.

Abigail stood alone in the center of the hall, like she was stranded on an island.

No one was coming to save her. She could only watch helplessly as the icy water rose higher and higher, until it drowned her.

Her hands twisted in the fabric of her wedding dress.

Just as she thought this was it. This gamble would end in complete mockery and shame—

From the back of the hall, a deep, firm male voice carrying undeniable authority clearly cut through the dead air:

"I'll marry you."

Every gaze in the room turned toward the sound.

Backlit by the light, a tall, commanding figure rose to his feet. He walked down the long red carpet with unhurried confidence, light and shadow playing across his chiseled features.

With each step closer, his face became clearer—devastatingly handsome, impossible to look away from.

"I'll marry you," he said again with a deep, confident voice that felt like a breath of fresh air to Abigail. At that moment, nothing could have sounded better.

The busy banquet hall went completely silent; everyone was shocked that someone actually stepped up to claim Abigail.

"Who is he?"

"No idea. I've never seen him before. He's definitely not part of Claudia's elite circle."

Today was supposed to bring the Winchester and Fitzgerald families together, an event for the social elite.

Either this guy had an impressive background that kept him away from them, or he was just a nobody who managed to sneak in to watch.

"He's sitting with the groom's guests. Must be a guest of the Fitzgerald family," someone said, and the crowd buzzed with curiosity.

Abigail couldn't help but admire him as he walked toward her, his presence grabbing everyone's attention.

He was incredibly handsome, with a tall, athletic build.

She stood at 5'6" in heels, yet he still towered over her.

As he got closer, Abigail felt a strong aura from him, a powerful energy that showed confidence and nobility.

"A guy like that... he doesn't seem like someone who need to be looking for a wife. Maybe he has his own reasons for being single?"

Abigail thought about it but quickly shook it off. That wasn't the point right now. Her main goal today was to get through the wedding and break free from the Winchester family.

Steadying herself, Abigail looked at him with a mix of doubt and hope. "Are you really serious about marrying me?"

She needed to be sure he wasn't just messing around.

In the crowd, Marcus Fitzgerald met her eyes, looking calm and steady. "I don't joke about serious stuff, and I definitely won’t take my marriage lightly."

"And your name?" she asked.

"Marcus Fitzgerald." His voice was smooth and deep, carrying a quiet authority.

The name made her pause. Her brow furrowed a bit. "Felix, is he related to you?"

"You could say I'm a distant uncle."

"An uncle?" Abigail raised an eyebrow, sounding a bit skeptical.

"Distant uncle," he clarified, putting a little emphasis on "distant."

She gave a slight smile, feeling reassured by his explanation. "Distant" meant he wasn't too involved, and that was fine by her. Still, she needed to double-check.

"You're really sure you won't regret this?"

"I don't do regret."
