Emma felt that Calum must have been terribly embarrassed when he left that morning. Thus, she decided to check on him.

She walked to his door and gently knocked, but there was no response. She was slightly confused and knocked again.

“Calum, are you inside?”

“How could I not?” Emma looked up and reached out to touch his face. “Of course I would.” As she spoke, she leaned in and kissed his cheek.

“Are you angry?” she asked.

“No,” Calum replied as he tightened his hold on her slightly. “I’m just a bit embarrassed.”

Hearing his words, Emma doubted him and pressed on. “If you’re not angry, why are you sitting in the dark? I called for you, and you didn’t answer.”

“I was changing,” he replied awkwardly. “It wasn’t on purpose. When you came in, there was a small black hole near the starrail, and the magnetic field interfered with the lights. That’s why the light wouldn’t turn

on.”

When Emma heard his words, only then did she realize that she wasn’t touching fabric at all, but was his skin.
