Chapter 572 Secrets of the Chitinid
Not even I look terrifying to Ms. Tibarn anymore–why would she be scared of a few Chitinid specimens? You’re being ridiculous!

“Emy, do you want to see those Chitinid specimens? I can explain everything to you. They’re not scary at all.”
Emma looked from one male to the other, already feeling a headache coming on.
Do I go or not? If I go, Lucien gets upset. If I don’t go, Calum gets upset. Beast God, what do I do…
Both males stared at her expectantly, waiting for her decision. Emma blinked twice, then suddenly pressed a hand to her stomach. “Oh–my stomach hurts. I need the restroom.”
Before either of them could react, she jumped up, shoved her way between them, and bolted out the door.
No way I’m making a choice this time. Time for the oldest trick in the book—run first, deal with it later.
Seeing her flee, Malrik and Marcus rushed after her.
Lucien shot Calum a glare. “If you’re supposed to be in a meeting, why are you here? I’m the one who asked Emma to come. If you wanted her in your office, call her yourself.”
Calum looked genuinely wronged. “If you hadn’t put her on the spot, she would’ve already gone to my office.”
He gestured at Lucien’s office. “Look at this place–empty enough to hold a battlefield. Ms. Tibarn would most certainly be bored here.”
Lucien didn’t back down. “And your office might not be empty, but it’s full of Chitinid corpse specimens. Aren’t you worried about frightening Emma?”
How dare he show Emma those hideous things!
Emma left the headquarters and immediately boarded her black airship. Once inside, she quickly texted Calum. [Send me pictures of those Chitinid specimens. I want to take a look.]
She’d hardly seen any Chitinid in person. Most of what she knew came from lightcore data- and in reality, she had only encountered one.
Calum had just returned to his office when he saw the message, and his mood skyrocketed.

With that, he photographed every Chitinid specimen in his office and sent the pictures to her, adding detailed explanations beneath each one.
As Emma scrolled through them, her frown deepened.
Malrik approached, handing her a glass of warm water. “Ms. Tibarn, you don’t look too well. Did the photos scare you?”
“No.” Emma shook her head. “The more I look at them, the more I realize how little information the lightcore actually has on the Chitinid.”
Everything on the lightcore made their abilities seem ordinary, almost unimpressive. But the descriptions in Calum’s photos told a completely different story.
“That’s normal,” Malrik explained gently. “Most lightcore data is meant for ordinary therians. If these photos circulated publicly, people would panic.”
Emma pointed to one of the images–a Chitinid with a human face. “This one, the Sanlori- they can actually turn into a human. And when they do, they leave no trace of being Chitinid at all.”
She had never heard of a Chitinid capable of such a transformation.
Malrik leaned closer. “I encountered the Sanlori outside the domain before. Their true bodies resemble silkworms with a pair of black wings. They can take human form, but only if they reach Rank 13–and only females can fully transform. Males can’t.
“The Sanlori have difficulty reproducing, especially females. I heard their females have gone extinct. There aren’t many males left either.”
I see…
Malrik’s explanation finally gave Emma a clearer understanding of the Sanlori.
When the airship returned to the castle, Emma stepped off only to suddenly feel something shift inside her lower abdomen–like something rolled gently from within. She froze in place.
“What’s wrong, Ms. Tibarn?” Marcus asked when she abruptly stopped.
