“Are you seriously saying I was wrong? You didn’t throw star coins at me back then to humiliate me? You had money, so you used it to buy me. You showered me with star coins and expected me to give you mental comfort, cook for you, and cater to you. Don’t tell me none of that was your doing.”
“I…” Drake’s breathing turned ragged. He sounded weaker, almost winded from the panic creeping up his throat. “I wasn’t trying to humiliate you. The way you looked back then… I thought you liked the star coin.”
If Emma disagreed back then, she could have refused. I’m not the kind of male who forces a female. She didn’t say no. So I assumed she really likes the star coin.
The truth was, Emma obviously liked star coins. When Drake gave those coins to her, she was not offended at all. If anything, she secretly thought he was some rich uncle with deep pockets. But that did not stop her from twisting the story now.
“Who said I like star coin? Do I look like someone who worships money? I treat money like dirt. You think I’d care about your little pile of star coins?” The more she spoke, the angrier she sounded. “I went along with it because I couldn’t afford to cross you. I had no choice but to swallow my pride.”
So she doesn’t like the star coin at all.
Under the blanket, his fingers tightened into a fist.
So I’m the one who gets it all wrong.
“I’m sorry. I misunderstood what you were thinking back then.” For all his pride and that stubborn dragon temper of his, he did have integrity. He might be sharp–tongued and infuriating, but he owned his mistakes.
“Forget it.” She looked at him, lifted a brow, and spoke with exaggerated generosity. “I’ve got a good temper and an even better heart. I’ll forgive you.”
“Huh?” He stared at her like he could not believe what he had just heard. “You’re forgiving me? Just like that?”
She forgives me that easily? The way she’s talking, she looks furious. I think she’ll never forgive me for the rest of my life. How does it turn around so fast?
Knock. Knock. Knock.
A firm
rap
sounded at the door. Alaric’s voice came through the door panel. “Emma, can I come in?”
Emma straightened immediately and called out toward the door, “Alaric, you can come in.”
The next second, the door swung open, and Alaric walked in alone.
He glanced at Emma first, making sure she was okay, before letting his eyes settle on Drake.
“Alaric, check him out first. If he’s not about to die or anything, just take him back for now,” she said, pointing at Drake.
“Emma, I’m not going back with you,” Drake shot back the moment he realized she was trying to drag him along.
“Shut up.” Emma didn’t even want to hear it.
I just scared the guy half to death, and he’s still talking back. I’m impressed.

Chapter 649 Taking Drake Back
She turned to Alaric. “Alaric, shut him up somehow and check him over first
Alaric stifled a laugh and nodded, then stepped in front of Drake and pulled out a vial, feeding it to
The potion was bitter as hell. Drake couldn’t help but frown. He glared at Alaric. He wouldn’t dare snap at Emma, but Alan was t game. “You-”
He tried to ask what Alaric had just given him, but the words wouldn’t come out. His eyelids grew heavy almost immediately in barely two seconds, he lost consciousness and slumped onto the bed, completely out.
Watching Drake drift off, Alaric explained to Emma. “Don’t worry. I just put him down for a quiet nap.”
His ability couldn’t shut Drake up, but his potion could.
Emma looked at the sleeping Drake and nodded at Alaric.
A dragon that’s actually quiet when it sleeps is kind of nice to look at.
“I’ll check him over now,” Alaric said, pulling out the instruments he’d brought. Drake’s condition was about what he expected. Still, to be safe, he went over him carefully again.
“Emma, Drake’s not looking too bad. Left like this, he could probably last a week or so without trouble,” he said.
This isn’t too bad?
She froze, completely speechless.
After seeing her at a loss for words, Alaric pulled out another vial. He held Drake’s mouth open and poured it down his throat. “Don’t worry. With me around, keeping him healthy for another couple of hundred years is no problem. Once you two bond over that time, he’ll be back to full strength.”
He glanced at Drake after saying that.
This dragon is stubborn as hell. I wonder if a couple of hundred years is even enough for him?
Hearing Alaric say Drake could live another few centuries healthy, Emma finally relaxed. “I’ll go let the Grand Elder know we’re taking Drake back first.”
She left Drake in his care and went to find Sebastian, telling him what was happening.
The moment Sebastian heard it, he almost broke down crying. “Ms. Emma Tibarn, thank you for not giving up on Mr. Smith. He’s perfect in every way, except for his temper, his stubborn streak, and his pride…”
“Okay, enough,” Emma cut him off. “Since you agree, I’m taking him back. I’ll have Alaric bring him onto my warship right now.”
