Chapter 790 A Warm Welcome

Emma never would have imagined that a room drenched in such funerallike gloom would turn out to be the perfect environment for Jim.

Wellfine.

If he likes it, what else can i possibly say?

As long as he didn’t find it unlucky and could live there comfortably, that was all that mattered.

Emma took a slow breath, forcing her expression back under control before putting on a slightly stiff smile.

Since Jim likes the room, then there’s no need to change it.

The moment Corvin heard that, his eyes lit up instantly. It was as if he’d just received the greatest praise imaginable. If he had an actual tail, it would probably have been wagging wildly behind him.

I told you! I knew I had a talent for design. Looks like I’m the one who understands Jim best.

The others silently turned their heads away. They simply couldn’t bear to look into the room.

A chilly breeze drifted through the room. Emma instinctively rubbed her arms.

Well, it’s getting late, she said quickly. I’m heading back to my room to rest.

She turned to look at Jim. Your room is ready now, so you should get some sleep too.

Emma had absolutely no desire to remain in this ghostly place any longer. If she stayed here much longer, she was certain she’d end up dreaming about the Hades inviting her over for tea.

Before leaving, she gave Jim a quick reminder. From now on, if you want to sleep, or just lie around like a corpse, do it in your own room. Don’t go downstairs to the living room anymore.

Jim hadn’t yet grasped the seriousness of the matter. He simply nodded obediently. Mm.

I’ll remember.

Seeing him agree, Emma turned and shot Marcus a warning glance.

That goes for you too.

Marcus couldn’t bring himself to utter a syllable.

Once they left Jimi’s room, Emma immediately felt as if the air around her had warmed up.

But as someone who had grown up on Earth and had been terrified of ghosts since childhood, that room had truly been too eerie. If the others hadn’t been there with her, Emma doubted she would have dared step inside alone.

Standing in that room by herself would have felt like being surrounded by invisible spirits.

Still, she had done her best to keep a normal expression while they were inside so as to not affect Jim. She hadn’t let anyone see how uneasy she really felt.

Now that they were out, Emma quietly tightened her grip on Lucien’s hand and took a small, steadying breath.

Lucien noticed immediately. His brows drew together slightly. Only now did he realize that Emma might have been a little frightened by the atmosphere in Jim’s room.

He squeezed her hand gently, his larger palm wrapping around hers completely. A subtle warmth from his ability flowed through his hand, slowly warming her slightly chilled fingers.

Emma felt his palm enveloping hers. She looked up at him and smiled softly. I’m fine, she whispered.

She had simply let her imagination run a little too wild while they were inside earlier.

Mm.Lucien nodded, his expression gentle.

Of course he knew she was fine. Emma was always like this. Unless something truly serious happened, she hated troubling others over small matters. Even with her mates, she behaved the same way.

Truthfully, Lucien sometimes wished she would be a little more willful with them. Big things or small things alike. She could complain, throw a little temper, make demands. They would accept it all anyway.

Silas glanced briefly at Emma, then looked back toward Jim’s room.

He said nothing. Instead, he stepped into the floating elevator with the others.

The elevator descended from the fifth floor. When the doors opened on the first floor, Emma stepped out and immediately saw the tall, imposing figure waiting in the hall.

Calum had just returned. He was still dressed in his immaculate marshal’s uniform. The insignia on his shoulders caught the light, reflecting a cold metallic gleam.

His black military boots struck the floor with steady, measured steps.

Though his expression remained stern and handsome as always, there was a faint trace of fatigue lingering between his brows.

Calum!

The moment Emma spotted him, she ran straight toward him.

Calum had just pulled off one of his gloves when he saw her rushing over. Without hesitation, he opened his arms and caught her

s she practically leapt into them.

Emma.

His deep, magnetic voice sounded above her head, tinged with unmistakable delight. Running over to me this fastI guess you really did miss me.

This was the first time Emma had ever greeted him so enthusiastically. Calum felt ridiculously pleased.
