“Ms. Tibarn, what’s so interesting about that useless guy who only knows how to act pitiful? Am I not more fun than him? Play with me instead.”
Hearing his words, Emma immediately covered Marcus‘ mouth with her hand.
“What kind of nonsense are you talking about?”
Although we were the only ones in the garden, it was still outside. Just because no one is visible doesn’t actually mean there weren’t actually people around, Emma thought.
Marcus blinked and took advantage of the moment to grab Emma’s wrist before lightly biting her finger. He looked at her teasingly and said softly, “Ms. Tibarn, you misunderstood me. What I meant was that I’m more capable than he, and better–looking too.”
As he spoke, he suddenly leaned closer, causing his nose to almost brush against her cheek.
“It was clearly you who misunderstood and blamed it on me. Although I am happy to oblige, doing it outside isn’t very appropriate.”
There was no way Emma would admit that she misunderstood his words. Thus, she shot him a glare and said, “Am I the one who misunderstood it, or are you the one who deliberately led me on? You know the answer yourself.”
She wasn’t Corvin, and she could more or less see through their tricks.
Then, she tossed the flower basket to Marcus and said, “Hurry up and pick the flowers. If you don’t finish the task, you’re sleeping in the garden tonight.”
Outside the castle, Jim stood with his arms crossed as he leaned against a massive stone pillar. His cold gaze swept over Gaellard, who was standing at the gate. Then, he frowned in disdain and said, “Ugly.”
Hearing his words, Gaellard was speechless.
Already holding in a bellyful of anger, he exploded the moment he heard Jim call him ugly.
“What do you mean?” If he were ugly, wouldn’t that guy who got in this morning be even uglier?
Gaellard pointed at his own face and said, “Take a good look at this face of mine. It would look good even if I wore a sack. How is it ugly?”
Jim didn’t even spare him another glance, nor did he bother explaining. He simply shifted his gaze away.
Gaellard was fuming with rage.
“Are you really not going to let me in?” he asked Jim.
“I just don’t know what you people are thinking. If even someone like that can be let in, why not me?” The

more Gaellard spoke, the more aggrieved he felt. “At least my intentions are much cleaner. I just want to see Emma. At most, I want to become her mate. I don’t have any other bad intentions. However, the guys from Maulion are different.”
At this point, Gaellard narrowed his eyes, and his tone turned serious.
“That guy came with a family mission. He is full of schemes. Aren’t you afraid you’re letting a wolf into the house by allowing someone like that in?”
Jim glanced at him and said, “Don’t pretend.”
Even though Jim didn’t talk much, he knew exactly what kind of person Gaellard was. This guy was best at pretending to be harmless. Although he looked innocent, he was full of tricks up his sleeve.
Gaellard didn’t know what to say.
“Who’s pretending?” he said, looking wronged. “This is called being lovestruck. Do you know what that is? I doubt you know since you are just a lazy guy who can’t even be bothered to talk.”
Knowing he couldn’t get into the castle anyway, Gaellard stopped holding back his words. He sized Jim up
and said, “You have come Emma’s mate yet, have you?”
Jim said nothing.
Gaellard continued, “Even if you don’t say it, I know. You’re lazy and don’t even talk. It would be a miracle if Emma decides to choose you.”
As he spoke, he leaned closer to Jim.
“Let me in, and I’ll help you. How about it?”
Jim didn’t respond. He simply lowered his gaze slightly and looked at Gaellard. There was no anger nor mockery in his eyes. Jirn just acted as if he wasn’t even bothered at all.
Looking at his reaction, Gaellard was at a loss for words.
Being stared at like that, Gaellard felt a lump of frustration stuck in his chest.
“What’s with that look?” he snapped.
Just as he finished speaking, the heavy castle gates suddenly opened. Then, Kieran walked out.
Seeing Gaellard still standing there, Kieran frowned slightly and looked at Jim.
“Why haven’t you sent him away yet?” he asked.
Hearing this, Jim, who had been leaning against the pillar, straightened up slightly. He glanced at Kieran, said nothing, and turned to walk back into the castle.
As he passed by Kieran, he didn’t stop as he said, “You do it.”

Then, his figure disappeared instantly.

Kieran was speechless as he stared at Jim’s disappearing back in disbelief, his usually elegant expression nearly cracking.
He couldn’t believe that Jim was so quick to dump the problem on someone else.
Kieran took a deep breath to suppress the urge to drag Jim back and fight him. Then, he slowly turned around and finally looked Gaellard in the eyes.
As their eyes met, it felt as though invisible sparks crackled in the air.
After Kieran sized Gaellard up from head to toe, he had a wicked smile on his face.
