Chapter 818 Escape Back to Maulion

Five minutes ago, Lucien and Calum’s Lightcore both went off with the castle’s top–level alarm.

They thought their home was under a massive terrorist attack and rushed back immediately.

Calum charged ahead. His eyes were glowing blood red, and he barked, “Who the hell dares to touch my-”

He stomped out of the cabin, taking a deep breath to unleash the intimidation of his ability. But the instant he inhaled, a putrid stench hit him like an invisible iron hammer, smashing into his lungs.

“Ugh!” His roar choked halfway in his throat. His handsome face instantly flushed dark, and his tall frame wobbled, nearly forcing him to his knees on the spot.

Lucien, right behind him, wasn’t faring any better. He quickly used his ability to block the horrific smell, frowning. “Why does it smell like this?”

Who’s cruel enough to dump crap in our castle?

On another airship, Silas came out with Remy. The earth–shattering, skull–piercing stench hit them instantly.

Silas‘ gentle, calm expression snapped. The warm smile that usually lingered on his lips vanished, replaced with terror and disbelief. “It stinks so bad!”

He immediately used his ability to block the smell and shield Remy.

The defense system… went off because of this?

Remy’s little face was pale from that unguarded hit of stench. He wobbled and grabbed Silas‘ hand. “Daddy, it’s so gross. Did some other Daddy eat crap at home?”

Silas‘ mouth twitched sharply twice. Then he raised his hand and lightly tapped Remy’s forehead with his knuckles. “Don’t be ridiculous. Your daddies might be weird sometimes, but they’re not that dumb.”

Even as he said it, seeing this scene that looked straight out of a biohazard nightmare made him frown.

This isn’t dangerous, and no one actually ate crap, but it’s basically like blowing up shit for fun. Who pulled this stupid stunt? Emy’s definitely caught the smell, too.

Meanwhile, inside the castle, Kieran, Alaric, and the others were scrambling to get rid of the horrific stench.

If they didn’t, everyone would be stuck sleeping in the crap–smelling place tonight.

After ten or so minutes of relentless effort from Kieran, Alaric, Marcus, and the rest, the soul–numbing stench finally started to fade.

And just as the air finally felt fresh again.

Whoosh!

A dark shadow shot out like a cannonball, tracing a clumsy arc, and slammed straight out of the castle gates.

Right on cue, Marcus‘ signature half–dead voice rang out, except this time it was laced with fury. “Get the hell out. Now. What is wrong with your brain, huh? I told you to water and fertilize those delicate spirit plants. Who told you to compress your ability into a bucket of manure and blow it up? You’re an absolute idiot. No, scratch that. Calling you an idiot is an insult to idiots.

“Anyone with half a brain is smarter than you with their eyes closed. Even a pig knows better than to blow up a cesspit. Take your stench and crawl back to Maulion. If I see you again, I will kill you.”

Leonard was hurled out, spinning through the air a few times before crashing to the ground in a miserable heap.

He did not dare look back. Reeking and shaken to his core, he covered his face and bolted, scrambling and stumbling his way back toward Maulion.

Calum stood aboard the airship, listening to Marcus raging, then glanced at the figure fleeing in disgrace. His brows drew together slightly.

“Leonard?” He turned to Lucien. “Isn’t that Marshal Rysid’s most talented grandson? The one he keeps hidden?”

Why is he in our castle? And blowing up a manure bucket?

Lucien looked completely done as he explained, “You’ve been tied up these past few days and haven’t been home, so you missed it. Marshal Rysid sent Leonard here to stir trouble between us. He was playing the charm card, trying to get close to Emma.”

Then it hit him. “Wait. How did he even get into our place?”

That old b*stard keeps Leonard well hidden. Hardly anyone has seen him, and even if they have, they don’t know who he really is. But come on, we’re not just anyone. There’s no way we wouldn’t find out. And even if we do, we keep quiet. Nobody hands their opponent formation about their own hidden cards. Of course, we play dumb and let them think we don’t know. Lucien rubbed the bridge of his nose. His gaze drifted as he gave a guilty cough. “Well… I was the one who let him in.”

Seeing Calum’s eyes widen in anger, Lucien quickly added, “You’ve been swamped at the military these past couple of days, right? It didn’t seem like a big deal, so I didn’t bring it up. I thought it’d be a bit of entertainment for Emma. I didn’t expect…”

Who saw this coming? This is wild, right?

While they were still talking, Silas had already tuned them out. Holding Remy in his arms, he stepped through the castle gates ahead of them.
