Chapter 915 The Task Was Exactly That Disgusting
The only explanation was that Alan knew the task was disgusting. So disgusting, in fact, that he refused to face it alone and planned to drag them all down with hum
Silas raised a hand and pointed lightly at his own face. “Think back to yesterday. Do you remember how much Mairik’s skin changed?”
The others immediately understood where he was going with this.
Silas continued, “If even we noticed it, Emma definitely noticed it too. Once she becomès curious, she will ask Mairik what happened. He may hide it from us, but he will never hide it from her.”
Drake’s eyes narrowed slightly. “So this task is related to Malrik’s skin.”
“That is the most likely answer.” Silas nodded.
Lucien went straight to the point. “What caused the change?”
That was the real question.
He sensed that Alaric deliberately avoided explaining the mission in the group chat. If he went this far to keep it hidden, then whatever they were about to face was likely not ordinary.
Silas shook his head. “I can’t say for certain.”
Drake looked at him with obvious doubt. “You want us to believe you don’t know?”
Lucien’s gaze turned sharper. “Enough. You must have guessed something.”
Edric also looked at Silas with clear dissatisfaction. “We are supposed to be on the same side. Keeping quiet now is not very brotherly of you.”
Silas sighed as if he had been unfairly accused. “I can only tell you what ! suspect. Whether it is correct or not, I cannot guarantee.
He adjusted his gold–rimmed glasses and spoke at an unhurried pace. “Earle, I gave Malrik coordinates for a fruit–gathering spot The area is mostly cliffs, with no beasts worth mentioning and almost no other living creatures. Apart from the ftit, the only thing there is a flock of giant green birds.”
Edric frowned “Birds? Are we talking about their blood?”
Drake considered the possibility “Or their feathers Maybe their meat”
Those were the only answers that sounded remotely reasonable
Lucien’s expression remained calm if it were just birds, Alaric would call everyone that how only gathers the group when he wants everyone to go through something difficult together There must be something unpleasant
Silas let out a heavy sigh before continuing “Tonce heard a strange rumor about those green birds Supposedly, Used droppings
can improve a thenians skin
“When Malnik came back that day, he went straight to his room and avoided everyone After weing how much his skin changed, 1 suspect those birds sprayed him So the rumor may actually be true

Edric, Lucien, and Drake all stared at Silas in surprise. “Bird droppings? Are you sure?”
“I’m only making a deduction,” Silas, replied. “There is no confirmed proof yet.”
Edric clearly couldn’t accept it. He said, “I’ve never heard or seen anything like that on the lightrore either.”
Silas shrugged, looking innocent. “I only heard it in passing. That place has nothing valuable aside from fruit and a group of ordinary giant birds. Most people would never bother going there.”
Lucien looked at him quietly. Most people would never bother going there? Then how do you know so much about that place? You must have known about the cliffs and those green birds from the start. Otherwise, why would you send Malrik there so specifically?
Yet, Drake was direct. “You really didn’t know what would happen when you sent Malrik there?”
Edric’s expression showed the same disbelief.
In his opinion, Silas had most likely gone there before, suffered through it himself, and then calmly passed the disaster on to Malrik..
Now, because of that one trap, all of them had been dragged in as well.
Silas pushed his glasses up and looked utterly sincere. “I truly had no idea.”
The three males looked at him with blank expressions. No one trusted his words.
For a moment, they all fell into a notably heavy silence as they reflected on gathering bird droppings on the cliff.
Edric rubbed his chin, looking as though he had aged several years in a single moment. “So when we go in later, what are we supposed to do?”
Drake adjusted his cuff and answered calmly, “What can we do? Naturally, the eager one. We must act as if we are honored to collect it. We can’t let Emma think we’re unwilling.”
Lucien nodded. “Right. That’s the safest response.”
Silas added, “Alaric has likely already arranged everything. If we hesitate even a little, he’ll use it as proof that we don’t cate enough about Emma. He might say, ‘It’s a simple task, yet you can’t manage this much for her.“”
The four of them exchanged looks, and the same grim understanding settled over them.
There was no backing out now
