Facing that frozen expression combined with such a direct answer left her temporarily speechless.

Andre showed no intention of leaving, yet he just sat there without saying a word. It was beyond awkward.

Nearby, Marcus, Alaric, and Drake were all buried in their lightcores. Whatever they were thinking, none of them seemed inclined to break the ice or help her out. This only made the tension worse.
