Alaric took a slow sip of his tea and spoke up in a measured tone.

“If you put it that way, Gaellard… Andre’s behavior was indeed a bit uncalled for. As brothers-in-arms, how could he just abandon you and rush over here alone?”
Emma clutched her water glass and said nothing. She leaned further back into the couch, finding a comfortable position to keep watching the drama unfold.
Let them fight, she thought. Whoever shouts the loudest wins the argument.
Despite the barbs from Gaellard and Marcus, Andre didn’t spare them a single glance. His eyes remained fixed on Emma
“I am not trying to steal the credit,” Andre said, addressing her directly. “The birds outside were swept away by his tornado. The droppings on the shield were cleared by me.”
He paused, his deep eyes locking onto hers with unwavering intensity.
“I didn’t come to boast of my achievements. I only came because I wanted to see you sooner-to make sure you were alright.”
Gaellard stared at him in pure shock. Who? Who taught this bird how to talk like a romance novel lead?
He wasn’t the only one; even Marcus, Alaric, and Drake were stunned, Marcus leaned back against the couch, turning hic head to look at Andre as if he were a rare, mutant specimen.
“Andre, did those birds peck your brain out there? Since when did a high-cold bird like you learn to say things like that?”
It was truly unbelievable. Usually quiet and stoic, Andre’s “straight-ball” approach was more ruthless and accurate than anyone
else’s.
Emma, who had been comfortably enjoying the show, suddenly felt a flush of heat from the sheer focus of Andre’s pure, intense gaze. Her fingers tightened around her glass, and the tips of her ears turned pink.
There was something dangerously defenseless about a man with such a frigid, ascetic expression saying the most beautify things. It was a complete sensory ambush.
“Why is it so lively in here today?”
Suddenly, Silas’ voice rang out from the entrance. Emma let out a massive sigh of relief at the sound. She immediately stood up and walked toward him.
“Silas, you’re back.”
“Mhm, I’m back.” Silas looked down at her, his eyes overflowing with tenderness. “Are you tired? If you are, let Edric take you up to rest. I’ll handle things here.”
One look at Emma’s “thank god you’re here” expression told Silas everything he needed to know. She was clearly overwhelmed by the combined force of Gaellard, Andre, and the three troublemakers.
“I actually am a bit tired…” Emma said, taking the graceful exit he offered.
As much as she liked drama, she wanted out. Andre’s eyes were like heat lamps, and Gaellard looked like a wronged puppy

“Emma,” Edric said, reaching her side. “Let’s go. Time for some rest.”
Edric had been cultivating in his/room and hadn’t known what was happening downstairs until Silas sent him a message
Once the levitating elevator doors closed behind them, the gentle smile on Silas’ face vanished instantly. He swept a cold glance over Marcus, Alaric, and Drake before settling on Gaellard and Andre.
“Emma has gone to rest. Now, if you have something to say, say it to me. I’ll be the one “handling’ it”
