“Thank you, Ms. Aria Veynar, for believing in me.”

If Emma isn’t taking the bait today, I’ll use Aria instead. As long as I have her as my way in, I can keep finding excuses to get close to Emma. With the way I play my cards, it’s only a matter of time before Emma starts noticing me. I’m not in a hurry!

After hearing Aria out, Silas looked at Rafael with his usual gentle smile. “Now that the search results are in, I think we can put this matter to rest.”

“Consul Hamblin…” Lange was desperate to defend himself, but one look from Silas made him immediately shut his mouth.

Silas turned to Lange. “Apologize to Mr. Menderson and compensate him. I’ll have someone issue an official notice about the outcome.”

He didn’t care whether Lange had been wrongfully accused or not. All he wanted now was an outcome everyone could accept.

Besides, Lange wasn’t completely innocent either.

Lange was furious and frustrated, but since Silas had spoken, he had no choice but to swallow his anger and apologize to Rafael through gritted teeth.

He looked at Rafael. “I’m sorry. I wrongfully accused you.”

With that, he tossed a card to Rafael. “There’s 10 million star coins on it. That should be more than enough to make up for it, right?”

D*mn that male. If he ever falls into my hands, I’m gonna beat the hell out of him.

Rafael looked at the card Lange had thrown over. He didn’t reach for it right away. Instead, he said quietly, “I don’t need that much. Just give me back the star coins you took from me. That’s enough. I may have poor aptitude and a low level, but I still have my pride and dignity.”

Lange was at a complete loss for words. He stared at Rafael, so frustrated he could have screamed. “You don’t want 10 million, but you insist on taking that little bit of pocket change?”

Aria looked at Lange. “Yeah. You’ve got 10 million. So why were you trying to take the star coins Rafael worked so hard to save?”

“I…” Lange was completely at a loss for words.

How am I supposed to explain this? I was pissed because a female I liked today stopped paying attention to me the second she saw Rafael. So I took it out on him and deliberately stole those star coins from him, even though I wouldn’t have given them a second thought, because they were everything he had. I can’t exactly say that out loud.

“Ms. Aria Veynar is right. I was wrong.” Lange quickly admitted his mistake and handed Rafael 500,000 star coins.

After handing over the money, he immediately turned to Silas. “Consul Hamblin, I…”

Silas waved him off. “You can go.”

The moment Lange heard that he was free to leave, he breathed a huge sigh of relief. At least this whole mess was finally over

“Thank you, Consul Hamblin. Thank you, Ms. Emma Tibarn, and Ms. Aria Veynar” With that, he hurried out.

After he left, Aria turned to Rafael. “What about you? Now that everything’s been cleared up and you’ve gotten your star coin back, what are you planning to do next?”

Rafael carefully put away his star coin card. His fingertips had gone slightly white from how tightly he was gripping it.

“…” he said softly. His voice was still slightly hoarse, as though he was struggling to hold back some emotion, only to force it down the moment he spoke. “I… I’m going home. I need to take my little brother to get treatment.”

Aria wasn’t surprised when he said he needed to go home.

She looked at Rafael’s cheap shirt, hanging off him in tatters after being badly ripped and pulled.

The Lower District on the outskirts of Central Planet was dark and chaotic. I had never been there myself, but I had heard plenty about it. Looking at him like this, carrying 500,000 star coins on him and heading straight back there, I was afraid he’d run into even bigger trouble the moment he set foot in the Lower District.

500,000 star coins might not even cover a single meal for me. But for those low-level Therians in the Lower District, that’s a fortune.

“You’re going to walk all the way back there by yourself, looking like this?”

Rafael tightened his grip on the storage band, then nodded with his lips pressed into a thin line. “Yeah. Taking a Gravicar costs too much. I need to save the money for my little brother’s medical treatment.”

Seeing how pitiful he looked, Aria sighed before turning to her mate. “Arrange a Gravicar and have someone take him back to the Lower District. And have them take his brother to the hospital too. If he doesn’t have enough star coins, cover the rest for him.”

It was barely anything to her.

The moment Rafael heard Aria’s words, he looked up sharply.
