Amber didn’t know why, but the tears wouldn’t stop coming. She sniffled and tried to catch her breathe but nothing seemed to work. Her mind was a total mess and she had no idea how to calm it.
She didn’t regret what she said to Damon or slapping him in the face. But she hated herself for everything Marcus had gone through tonight.
He was a good man. A kind, lovely man that didn’t deserve to be treated that way. He was everything a woman could ever want and Amber hated herself for not being able to reciprocate back his love.
She knew deep down that she cared for him but that was it. Four years together, and she had never once being able to say the word love to him.
Wiping the tears streaming down her face, Amber pressed the brake wanting to slow down. But to her horror, the car didn’t respond.
At that moment, she felt something was off
She pressed the pedal again, harder this time, but the same thing happen. The car didn’t slow down. Rather it was moving faster now.
Her heart skipped. She knew something was wrong.
She yanked the steering wheel trying to get the car to slow down on it’s own but still nothing.
Panic gripped her chest and she held the wheel tighter.
“Oh God!” She whispered. She could tell something was seriously wrong. The brake wasn’t working anymore.
The road ahead split into two. She didn’t even have time to choose a direction before a massive truck came barreling down from the other side and slammed straight into her car.
“No, no, no, no!” Damon shouted as he watched the collision happen right before his eyes.
He had been trailing Amber’s car, trying to catch up when he realized something was wrong. And then he saw it, the truck, the impact, and Amber’s car flying off the bridge.
Without thinking, Damon jumped out, leaving his own engine running. He leapt from the bridge, his Alpha strength kicking in as he landed beside the wreckage below
The windshield was broken and there was shards of glasses everywhere. It didn’t take long before he ripped the car apart and pulled her out.
“Bree! Please… please Bree, look at me.” Damon cried, brushing strands of hair from her bloody face.
There was blood dripping down from her forehead and lips. The sight of it hurt him so much. Damon didn’t know when the tears came slipping down as he cradled her to his chest.
“Please, open your eyes, Bree. I can’t lose you again… not when I just got you back.”
“I haven’t even introduced you to our daughter yet. She’s been dying to meet her mom, and I promised her you two will meet. What do I tell her now, huh? Please, baby, wake up…‘
“I’m sorry for everything I did to you,” Damon whispered, tears blurring his vision. “I haven’t even begun to make up for them yet. So please, don’t give up on me. Don‘ give up on us.”
“Da–Damon,” Amber growled his name in response and Damon gasped.
“Amber? You can hear me, baby? It’s okay, I’m taking you to the hospital. Everything will be fine, I promise.”

He lifted her into his arms in bridal style, but froze when he saw someone standing a few feet away. It was a man, dressed head to toe in black. Masked, with a gun in hand.
“Who the hell are you?” Damon snarled, baring his teeth. “How dare you try to kill my wife?”
