On the bed lay a woman, her features mostly hidden behind oversized sunglasses, hair a tangled mess. There was no obvious sign of blood or injury, just her legs drawn up under the blanket.

“Once the doctor gets here, you need to be honest with her,” the nurse said firmly. “We’re talking about your life. If you don’t cooperate, you might not even be able to have children in the future.”
