Chapter 160*

Angelina’s POV

“Relaxing?” He sounded confused.

“Yeah, I wake up. Go to school. Do homework. Eat dinner with my family. Is simple. Peaceful. I’d forgotten what that felt like.”

Caelan moved closer. Stood next to me. “How is that even possible? The reincarnation. I’ve heard stories but I never thought they were real.

I shrugged. “I don’t know. Same soul. Different body. The universe’s idea of a cruel joke maybe.”

“Have you tried to find out why? How it happened?”

“Of course. But there’s nothing. No records. No legends that match exactly I’ve been searching since the day I woke up.”

“Evergreen Pack has ancient texts. Accounts of similar cases. Maybe there something there.”

I glanced at him. “Maybe.”

Silence fell between us. Not uncomfortable. Just quiet.

Then I said something I hadn’t planned to say. “You mentioned having feelings for me. For Angelina.”

“Yes.”

“But Angelina is gone. That life is over. I’m not the strongest Alpha King anymore. I’m just Aria. A fifteen-year-old high school student with an

Omega father and a human mother.”

Caelan turned to face me fully. “You’re still Angelina. The body is different but the soul is the same. Your mind. Your experiences. Your

strength. All of it is still you.”

“But I don’t have my pack. My power. My position.”

“I don’t care about any of that,” he said. His voice was firm. Certain. “I care about you. The person. Not the title.”

I wanted to believe him. But years of being Alpha King taught me to be suspicious of everyone’s motives.

“You say that now,” I said. “But when reality hits. When you realize I’m not going back to being that person-

“Then we’ll deal with it,” he interrupted. “Together. If you’ll let me.”

“Why?” I asked. “Why do you want this so badly?”

Caelan was quiet for a moment. Like he was choosing his words carefully.

“Do you remember the summit in Paris? Three years ago?”

“Vaguely.”

“You gave a speech about pack unity. About how the old ways of constant warfare were destroying us. How we needed to evolve or go extinct.”

I nodded slowly. I remembered that speech. Most of the Alphas hated it. Said I was weak for suggesting cooperation.”

“I didn’t,” Caelan said. “I thought it was brilliant. Revolutionary. And I watched you that day. Really watched you.”

He paused. “You stood there facing fifty Alpha wolves who wanted you dead. Who thought you were threatening their power. And you didn’t

back down. Didn’t soften your message. You just looked at them and dared them to challenge you.”

That’s what an Alpha does.”

“No,” he said. “That’s what a leader does. Most Alphas rule through fear. Through violence. You ruled through strength and intelligence. You

made people believe in something bigger than themselves.”

I didn’t know what to say to that.

“That’s when I knew, Caelan continued. “That’s when I realized you weren’t just another Alpha to conquer and absorb into my territory. You were someone I could actually respect. Someone I could learn from.”

“You never said anything.

“I wanted to. God, I wanted to. But you were untouchable. Unreachable. And I’m not good at expressing emotions. I thought if I could just be near you. Find the right moment. The right words.”

His jaw tightened. “And then you died. And I never got the chance.”

The wind picked up. Blew my hair across my face. I pushed it back.

“And now?” I asked quietly. “Now that I’m here? Like this?”

“Now I have a second chance,” he said. “And I’m not going to waste it.”

I turned away from him. Walked a few steps toward the edge of the cliff. Not close enough to be dangerous. Just enough to have space.

My mind was racing. Processing everything he’d said.

Part of me wanted to reject it. To push him away. To maintain the walls I built around myself.

But another part. A smaller, quieter part. Wanted to believe him.

“I can’t be who I was,” I said. Not looking at him. “That person is gone. Even if I wanted to go back, I can’t. This body is weaker. My wolf is

dormant.”

“I know.”

“And I might never get them back. I might be stuck like this forever.”

“I know.”

I turned around. Looked at him. “So what are you actually asking for? What do you want from me?*

Chapter 160*

Caelan walked toward me. Stopped when he was close enough that I could see every detail of his face in the moonlight.

‘I want a chance,” he said simply. A real chance. To get to know you. To show you that I’m serious about this. About us.”

“There is no us

Not yet, he agreed. But there could be. If you’re willing to try.”

I studied him. This powerful Alpha standing in front of me. Offering himself. His pack. His resources. Everything.

“I need time,” I said finally. To think about this. To figure out what I want

“Take all the time you need, Caelan said. “I’m not going anywhere.”

The sky was getting lighter. Dawn was maybe two hours away.

I sat down on a flat rock near the cliff edge. Caelan sat next to me. Not too close. Giving me space.

We sat in silence for a while. Just watching the stars fade as the sky brightened.

Then I said something I hadn’t expected to say. “You know what the worst part is?”

“What?”

“The isolation. I can’t tell anyone who I really am. My family doesn’t know. My friends don’t know. I have all these memories.”

Caelan was quiet for a moment. Then he said, “You’re not alone anymore. know.”

I glanced at him. “You say that like it’s simple.”

“It is simple. You have someone who knows the truth now. Someone you can talk to. Be yourself with.”

I wanted to argue. To point out all the ways it wouldn’t work. But I was timed. And sitting here. Talking to someone who actually understood. It

felt good.

“I understand that feeling,” Caelan said suddenly. “Being Alpha means always being strong. Never showing weakness. Never admitting when

you’re tired or scared.”

I turned to look at him. “You get scared?”

He smiled slightly. “Terrified. Every decision affects hundreds of lives. One wrong move and people die. The weight of that never gets easier.”

I’d never heard another Alpha admit that before. “No one ever talks about that part. The loneliness at the top.

“Because they expect us to be invincible. But we’re not. We just hide it better.”

Something in my chest loosened. Just slightly.

“What’s the hardest part for you?” I asked. “Of leading Evergreen?
