The guests were in shock at the sight of the coffin.
Recalling how Aria had delayed her entrance at the start of the ceremony and that explosive video, everyone suddenly understood.
Aria had known all along about Kane’s betrayal. The video was deliberately arranged by her, and even the coffin’s arrival at the ceremony after her suicide was part of her design.
The crowd murmured in disbelief.
What was supposed to be a joyous mate ceremony left the guests shaking their heads as they departed one by one.
Only Kane remained, kneeling in front of the coffin.
During the burial, Kane stood lifelessly on the side, his heart numb from the pain.
It wasn’t until the moment the coffin was about to be covered with soil that he snapped out of his daze. He threw himself forward, his reddened eyes filled with desperation, refusing to let anyone touch it.
It took several people to pull him back and restrain him in place.
When the final handful of soil sealed the grave, all that was left for Kane was Aria’s smiling portrait on the tombstone.
Breaking free from their hold, he fell to his knees, leaning his head gently against the tombstone. His finger traced over the name “Aria,” as tears streamed down his face.
“Little wolf, it’s all my fault… I’m sorry.”
But sadly, no one could respond to his belated apology anymore.
Kane returned home, his face void of life, moving like a walking corpse.
As he opened the door, the chilling cold of the house hit him. It had been only three days since he’d been gone, but the entire villa felt unbearably cold.
Since being with Aria, she had always loved adding little touches to the house.
Those warm, delicate items had gradually turned the once–cold mansion into a cozy haven.
But now, it was all gone…
The entire house had reverted to its cold, lifeless state from five years ago.
Staring at the familiar yet foreign surroundings, Kane felt like he was going mad.
He summoned all the servants and roared furiously, “Who threw away Aria’s things? I didn’t give the order! Who dared to get rid of them?”
It was the engagement ring he had crafted himself and the custom–made mate ceremony dress!
A searing pain spread from his chest, consuming his entire body.
“Aria, did you hate me this much?”
Hate him enough to use death as revenge, to destroy every trace of their happiness?
After the pain came an endless wave of regret.
